Hey all so i'm looking in to my second DS computer and was curious if liquid cooling is worth the 1k price tag? or is it a bit overkill? *talking Hydrolux pro exotic cooling not the sealed one*

Second question i had is something i'm not sure anyone can answer but how come DS doesn't carry 7th gen intel anymore ? i only see 8th gen and above. Thanks guys

The Hydrolux Pro is the best cooling using the best components, but whether you need it or it’s worth depends on your build.    For higher overclocking on cpu and gpu the Hydrolux is the way to go if budget allows. For a moderate oc the liquid sealed units are all you need.       Hydrolux also looks great .     A personal choice in most cases.

The 8700 has better performance across the board plus more cores without sacrificing clock speeds as in the past.   No reason to get 7700k with the 8700k with 6 cores and higher turbo speed.

Plus with the 8700k the turbo boost is great all that needs is a good aircooler or aio.

Like bp said lc depends in your needs and honestly only people that need the performance of lc are benchers and power users. Everyone else doesn't need the extra power / stress.

The gurus have spoken and as one with the HL Pro, it is NOT maintenance free. If you have no use for it, looks alone are not worth the trouble ( I meant maintenance LOL)

So for someone who doesn't overclock at all it isn't really worth it ? Also is it really that much of a pain *maintenance wise?

Whether it’s worth it is up to you.   It looks great and can be quieter with the right fans, and maybe keep the case a few degrees cooler if the gpu is on air vs water,    But, without pushing the oc , the water cooling won’t increase performance or longevity of the cpu or Gpu.

As far as maintenance, every couple of years you might have to drain, clean and refill it.    If you’re handy then no big deal.   If not handy or just want to game and not do added work, stay away from it.

I’m handy and comfortable with it but still don’t want to be bothered.    Plus there’s the added chance of leaks, bad pumps, etc.

LC is only needed for those who want a high oc or push their oc high.

As i mentioned 8700k with turbo boost and stage 2 air cooler is perfect.

 Even when things are going good you are looking for leaks. LOL And in cleaning, not only do you have to clean fans, don't forget the rads.
