I have AVG on my laptop (Vista) and McAfee on my old desktop.  I'm about to install a new DS PC and I was wondering which of these programs I should go for (or another)?

My other question is: Do either of the above programs run constantly in the background, impeding game performance (even on an ultra-fast machine)?

Many thanks!

I've always used Symantec (only because I got the advanced versions for free from the Army), but I recently switched to Windows OneCare.  I've been happy with it so far; no issues to note.  Does anyone out there have any negative information about it?

I used it for 2 years. It will -- over time slow your system down to a crawl. Its always hogging resources. I have three machine on Eset AV and the other on Symantic 2009 - only the AV part of it. An IT guy told me to try the Sym. it seems as fast as the Eset.
