Just my system from DS today and everything seems to be great, but the fan is pretty loud. I have the Cooler Master HAF 932 and the Cooler Master V8. Anyway to reduce the noise?

Shaft most of your noise will come from your gpu fans, what temps are those on and what is their fan settings?

If your video cards are not water cooled. We most likely have your fan speeds running at 80% which will create a fair amount of noise. If you monitor your temps and make sure you are not over heating when under load then it could be safe to lower the fan speed some using a program called EVGA Precision which is most likely already installed on your system.
If you do lower the fan speed and you start experiencing any problems then just increase that fan speed up to 80% again. |

Sweet, didn't realize it was so easy to lower the fans. My GPU's are at aprx 42 degrees, I lowered it down to 50 instead of 80. What temp is too high? I'm currently installing Crysis and figure that'll heat them up. |

I'd love to see play Crysis but when I turn the game on after a few minutes I get a blue screen and the computer restarts.
I got the computer, unpacked it, took the stormshield out of the rig, hooked it up, installed WoW, installed Crysis, went to play Crysis, and here I am. Any thoughts?

Looks to be good. I played Crysis for a bit with no problems. I had the fans on 80 and when I turned the game off the GPU's were at 68 and 71 degrees, is that normal and/or ok?
It only turned off those 2 times so far. I'm gonna install Red Alert 3 and see how that goes. Edited by SHAFT4783 - 03 Feb 2009 at 7:10pm |

Anything past 85c in my book is a huge no no.. You should check out the 27 dollar back plate for the 295, some claim it really reduces there temps under a load. Others say it just adds more surface area to dissipate heat and you must have good airflow to notice the temp change. Edited by Dsnewb210 - 03 Feb 2009 at 7:27pm |

I might use the backplate down the road.

Just did it again while playing Crysis with the fan on 80. Not sure if that means anything.

it right there in your PC:
C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini040109-03.dmp follow that path you will run into it, when you find it, go here and upload it then give me the link you are given there after the upload is done. (don't enter your email or anything like that, its not needed, just browse/pick/upload.) |

If anyone from DS sees this today could you please give me a hand? I'm currently at work and I cannot access the rig, but if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions I'd love to hear them.
So far the only problem I've had is running Crysis at max settings. I can play for a bit and then I get the blue screen and the comp restarts.
I'd like to think I can play Crysis at max settings with 1680 x 1050 considering the rig I just got. My order # was 8309.
I can access the rig at about 430 PM PT today if anyone can help me out please?

All good questions. I assumed the computer would come with all of those things installed, except the Crysis updates of course. Those I haven't checked for. I can do that later.

We should have installed all your updates for Crysis, but always a good idea to double check.
If you have a sound card, pop it out, see if it continues. |

No sound card. You would have installed all the updates for Crysis even though I didn't ask? That's cool. I just went and bought it yesterday and installed it.

I would recommend staying in touch with our support staff such as Sarah with the phones. The forums is a great area, but, if you need Digital Storm support, you should call or send us a message instead in order to get dedicated help.
Warm Regards,
Alex

A few quick fixes you can try and do, would be reinstalling the game. Just to make sure that everything went okay during the original install, make sure all updates are applied. I checked out your order number, try removing your cpu overclock as well. I can always help you reset it no problem at a later time.
So those are a few things you can give a try before you give us a call if you would like. Or if you have any questions, you know how to reach me. |
