In Device manager under non-plug and play drivers serial has a yellow exclamation mark. When I right click on it says device not present,is not working properly, or does not have all of the drivers installed. Under the driver tab status says stopped and under type it says automatic. When I click start a window appears saying "The system encountered the following error while attempting to start the service. The service cannot be started, either because
it is disabled, or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.
Could someone give me a bit of knowledge on this? It would be greatly appreciated.

Is it under "Other Devices"

Do you have a sound card. If so your onboard audio may not be disabled in the bios. Which in that case it will show up as an unknown device under "Other Devices".

Do you have any usb devices plugged in?
