Hello Digital Storm community,
I am contemplating purchasing a Bolt II with a GTX 780 Ti. My issue is that I will be shipping it to Chicago from Digital Storm and then shipping it internationally to Japan, where I reside. I've shipped this certain way dozens of times and the items that I ship sometimes get broken in the process. Questions: 1.) Just how sturdy are the boxes that ship Bolt IIs? Can they handle heavy international beatings? 2.) Because it takes about 2-3 weeks for items to ship here from the U.S., if the Bolt is damaged upon arrival, is there a way to still use the 30-day return policy if I prove that I received it 2-3 weeks after it originally shipped? 3.) My concern is that the desktop, or at least one of the components become damaged through international shipping. I know there's the $300 option for a wooden crate, but if it's still broken on arrival even after paying more for it, is there a way to still be assured a refund if it arrives a month after it ships, but has hardware problems? As a side note, has anyone ordered a gaming monitor from Amazon and had it arrive broken? Amazon tends to ship products in less-than-ideal packaging. Does anyone have any experience with that? |

You'd have to email or call them for info on the Return policy for International shipping. Just not sure.
The packaging is very well done. The carton is very durable and the internals well cushioned. The problem with shipping is that if the box is dropped from a distance, like off the back of a truck, the internal parts like the graphic card, mobo, etc keep moving to a degree and receive a heavy jolt. The box and foam absorb the shock but the internals still shift. The advantage with the Bolt, is that it is a small, tight space with less room to shift than the typical mid to full tower. So much depends on the carrier. I never bought a monitor from Amazon. Not sure if this helped or hurt. ![]() |

Aurora:
There is a pallet shipping option. Your computer is tied down to a shipping pallet. This option exists specifically to reduce any shipping damage. Pallet option costs more to ship that way. Shipping via pallet all the way to Japan might cost a lot of $$. You would have to call DS to find out the specifics. |

Thank you for your interest in Digital Storm, we would love to have you as a customer! Especially all the way in Japan.
Our packaging is designed to be very sturdy, what we could do is "DOUBLE BOX" your system. The Bolt II box is smaller than our normal desktop computer boxes. we could place the Bolt II box inside our desktop computer boxes making it even more secure. Shipping will obviously be more expensive, but worth it. If the unit arrives damaged, we would have to file a damage claim with the shipping company and process a refund in that manner. If the unit arrives with any defective hardware, our team would help you resolve the issue. If you would like to return it still for a refund, you would be responsible for shipping costs since you're international. Feel free to contact John via email ([email protected]) for a quote and help with any other questions. |

It is worth pointing out that the graphics card will sit in its a cage above the motherboard. So, it isn't physically attached to the motherboard. This should make it less likely that the card or the motherboard would be damaged if the box was dropped.

So Digital Storm can "double box" items? I haven't seen anyway to choose that option, except for specifying it in the build comments. Depending on the method to "double box" an item, how can I be guaranteed my item is "double boxed?"
If I can choose to double box my desktop, how much more will that cost and will the shipping cost more as well? Can you give me a quote for shipping a Bolt II, double boxed, to this address?: Unit 9800 Box 313 DPO, AP 96303 Thanks, Aurora |

packaging on mine was very sturdy, with oversized boxing to prevent any denting of the machine. i was impressed. you should be able to call them to request the double boxing, or any other custom needs.

Aurora, You will need to contact John via email ([email protected]) so he can help you with a quote. For double boxing, this is something our team will have to add AFTER you have placed an order in our system with our team. We can CONFIRM back with you once the order is in. Hope that helps!
