I have been looking for a lightweight laptop for college, but it has to be able to play my games (and play them well) because I am a serious gamer. I came to Digital Storm because of the good reviews, and now I'm coming to the forums hoping to get similar reviews of the Equinox. Just let me know what you guys think about the Equinox and if I'm making the right decision when looking for a lightweight and powerful gaming laptop.
Excited to be here! Can't wait to read the responses! Thanks!

Until a laptop guy shows, I think the Equinox would offer some very good gaming in a thin, lightweight package. It's gtx 970m will play most games on the 1080p screen at High settings or better. Some of the more modern, graphically intense games might need some tweaking but still look good. The mobile 970m is roughly equivalent to a desktop 960, maybe a bit less.
If it's not a carry around laptop the 17" screen Harker for roughly the same price would offer similar performance with a larger screen. But it would be heavier. Good luck.

The Equinox is perfect for college & gaming since it's a slim yet powerful laptop.

The Equinox is a good choice if portability is your main concern, but you will have to make compromises as you're paying a premium for the portability and sacrificing some of the more powerful options.
The Equinox won't allow you more than a 970M based on what I see in the available options, and you could get a 15.6" Triton configured with a 980M for less. It would be good to know what your priorities are for the laptop. If you're not going bleeding edge with games, the 970M will likely work out for you, especially if you're doing a lot of carrying it around for school, watching videos, multimedia, etc. If you are a fan of the latest-greatest games, you need to get the best GPU you can afford. Let us know. |
