my computer crashed and i will not have time to save for a power system.
![]() it seems the amd phenom2 955/ ati 5770 is the best bang for the buck. would have to drop to intel i3 530/ nvidia gt 240 to stay at the same price and i cant see that combo hanging with the amd combo. i'm not a hardcore gamer-med settings are fine, internet, dvd burning, would like to hook to tv and stream movies. not sure if i should try ds because of funds or try cyberpower or buy a box from newegg or wal-mart.com. any input or advice would be welcome ticket number: 442213 |

i know it sucks but its really better to just save until you can get closer to 1200. buying below that, in my opinion, is really just a waste of money. because you are buying outdated hardware for a few hundred less than much newer and better things

well, you could try to score a decent HP i guess with a 5570. my friend eventually ended going up with that sort of "standard issue" system due to budget problems like you have. he went with a 965 HP with a 5570 on it for $1k, pretty decent for him.

try here... www.microcenter.com
this is where you can choose a computer from various manufacturers at various budgets... if this is a quick remedy and you plan to chuck it asap i wouldn't even spend 1k.... they have pretty decent computers for half that. don't waste more then you have to for a chuck system. i got my current one purchased 2 years ago maybe a lil less for around 500 bucks. i got... 320 gb hdd 7200 rm 16 mb cache 896 mb nvidia 9500 gt w/ physx 4 gb of dd2 however 32 bit os can only use3 gb and it is dd2 realtek hd sound card with front i/o and 4 usb plus additional in the back dual layer dvd rw 2.5 core duo they do offer minor customization to their offered systems too so if you don't want the gpu for ex you can upgrade. i can play: crysis 1680 x 1050 low settings with high textures no aa/af( i get better fps that way... odd) 17-23-30 fps min avg max (beast) fallout 3: maxed same res with no aa/af 22-28-32 these are just examples of a high demanding game and a medium one. the computer you can get from them now at days for the same price will be much better then mine. these computers aren't horrible but don't expect them to last for ever...(mine is already showing warnings of failure in the next year) it will give you a year or two 3 tops before you must buy a new one plenty of time to save for practically any budget you desire. what i would do is get the chuck system to hold you over, save up as much as you can... when you get to the 1200-1500 mark you can get a very nice system that kick butt, for around 1800 you can get a beast that will rip apart many more expensive systems. after that performance/dollar goes down and your spending much more for not much more. it is more like getting the nice emblems on your Porsche wheels vs the black painted on ones... they don't do anything but they look cool.
