Looking back at what I could of had rather than what I'm stuck with now, should of spent the extra couple hundred and got the Vanquish 2 Ultimate package..
Current Specs:
Vanquish II-level 3
CPU: i5 4570 3.20 GHz (Quad Core)
MB: ASUS H81M-D/E Plus (Intel H81 Chipset) (MATX)
8GB 1600MHz Memory 1TB (Seagate) 7200RPM HDD
They wrote Nvidia on Specs list, really an ASUS dual fan..
GTX 760 2Gb

I can live with i5 but @ 3.20 ghz (locked) and a H81 MB that's where I left behind in the dust. To my understanding the latest upgrades were implemented towards the end of last year Early January. I guess I must have missed it by a couple months, purchased mine in May. Don't get me wrong, the DS rig I have currently is Great, runs smooth 60 fps on a HDMI-DVI connection HDTV 1920x1080 on most all games. Can't help but wonder how life would be right now, while gaming on Vanquish II's Ultimate (lvl 4) package.. The two drives and unlockable MB with the addition of i5 4690K seems Beast Mode not to add insult but let's through in a brand new GTX 970 4 GB GPU! looking back I have no regrets.. Can't a brother day dream?

I understand how you feel. My Vanquish II (WHICH I LOVE!) has the locked chip and the smaller mobo... had I purchased a month earlier I would have the original Vanquish (under water, OC, etc) or waited 6 months I would have the current set up.

But them I'm reminded of two very wise sayings from my past... one I learned here on this very forum, the other was taught to my by my grandfather some 40 years ago:

"Boy, you get what you pay for." and
"If I always waited for the next thing, I'd never have any thing."

So, yes, there are better computers than mine, but they're not mine. I bought this one because it was the right one at the time I bought it. Therefor, no regrets and no 'What-ifs' are allowed for me.

When it comes time to buy another one, I get the right one for me. If I can spend a lot more, it will be a lot better.

But dreams... ahhhhh.. dreams are another story. In my dreams I'm playing on my Aventum III (ENVY GREEN!) in 4k!!

I can understand this and I have the vanquish lvl 4.

On all my configurator 'wish lists' I always came up with a 5K machine and my ultimate dream machine was over 10K.

But, last Christmas I had the money for the Vanquish and had been wanting to upgrade for over three years so I found the Vanquish and though it wasn't my dream machine, it more than suits my needs and I have it! It's mine! and I love it.

Hindsight is 20/20 but a well researched decision for the moment is usually never wrong.

Vanquish II Ultimate.
I was laying in bed looking up at the stars and wondered "where is my ceiling?"

I understand how you feel, but guess what your always going to have this happen. You plan your system you buy it and the minute you buy it here comes something that would have changed your mind .

Technology changes so quickly that this is never going to stop. Yes it is okay to Dream, but do not let the dreams interfere with your enjoyment of your current Rig.

Stop and ask yourself How is the Rig I am now playing on limiting my usage of it? Look at how your playing now not what you intend to play when some game is released.. basically do not look for trouble when there is none. When and if it comes that the rig your playing no longer meets your needs then that is when you start looking at upgrading or replacing

So yes Dream a bit but not so much that you fail to enjoy your current rig

Things are always changing. What you have is still a great system. Computer technology is always changing.

This is not new. Back in the 80s, when progress was slower, there was a cartoon in a computer magazine

Guy had the Banana 2000 in his car, driving home from the store. He sees billboard for the Banana 3000. As Solomon said, there is nothing new under the sun.

There is no such thing as future proof. There is no way to buy a computer and not have the graphics card replaced by something cheaper, faster, cooler running, and/or less power hungry within a max of one year - sure, you could buy the new tech when it comes out - will cost you more, but you will have the latest tech for longer ( just not much longer :)

I should be getting my Vanquish II lv 3 computer in a couple days. I'm stoked! But I believe the specs are different than yours slightly. Mine is coming with a GTX 960 gpu I believe.
