Because I think I'm finally done (now).
CPU: Q6600 @ 3.4GHz GPU: 8800GTS 512MB Vista X64 Ultimate. I made a few changes to it since I last posted in Kelly's showoff thread a couple pages back. First of all, my original pump died so I had to send it back for a replacement, and when the replacement came in, I re-did the tubing and tubes. Also I added the Thermalright HR-03GT heatsink to my video card (along with 92mm fan - because it doesn't come with one), and its working very good. The install was a PITA though, and the included memory heatsinks are pathetic (they dont stick good). But anyhow, the cooler has dropped my GPU idle temp by 10 degrees (37C - in 70F room temp). To the pictures: I mess around so much with this thing, that its just easier to run it open all the time. SIX HEATPIPES!! Footnotes: 1. I've been building this thing since late Novemeber 07. I think I've only gotten it running for about 2 months total in days. Otherwise its been down waiting for parts and stuff. 2. If i were to add up costs totalling (including shipping on parts) i'm 100% sure this thing costed a couple hundred more than a very similar configured DS built computer. . But you can't put a price on your hobby right? Actually, I don't want to know how much the total really is. 3. I also experience the nvidia display driver stop error from time to time, moreso playing Crysis. And speaking of, 4. Crysis runs at about 17-27FPS on very high settings (@ 1280x1024). Feel free to show off your stuff in here too. Edited by Duke - 12 Mar 2008 at 5:05am |

That's a really tight looking system Duke. I really like the way you have the lighting set up. The liquid cooling system looks to be very well done. Very clean build overall.
You better be careful posting these pics. Next thing you know, you'll have customers requesting their machines are built by "that Duke guy" and Alex will have you strapped into a wireless headset answering calls while assembling systems. |

I have to say that the wiring job inside the case is so much neater than the one going up the wall behind the case!

Normally, I don't give a rat's ass about what the inside of a computer looks like as long as it's functional. However, I've got to admit that is mighty impressive.

I held my breath for a long time, to the point of becoming extremely dizzy, and the colors took on a completely new and fantastic look. It was simply amazing! I can't quite describe what happened shortly after that because my wife was trying to revive me from a blackout... evidentially.
I'm going to try it again and see if I can keep from passing out this time! |

Holding a pillow over the victim's face the standard procedure for reviving someone down your way?

I've been in there three times now, since i had my computer back up Lou, but your COD room/channel is always empty when i joined. I've also tried to join your own personal channel/room, but i don't know, or forgot your password.

I like the tubing, is that the kind of tubing used in DS watercooling? or does DS use some other type?

Tubes don't glow, its just the photos. My water coolant is a mixture of (9 parts) distilled water and (1 part) G12 coolant, which is a red/pinkish color. Thats where the pink comes from.

Thats a great looking machine, too bad it doesnt see much action. I was thinking about getting an aftermarket cooler for my gpu's but i doubt that i'll need them for a couple 9600's. itd be a purely aesthetic choice probably, but as youve shown, aesthetics can be mighty impressive.

The system is seeing a lot of action right now. I'm playing TF2 daily, and some COD on the side. I backstabbed BFrank2me twice the other week as spy.

Awesome! I cant wait till mine comes in, and maybe six months later i can afford a game! that would be so good, my budget makes it seem more and more like i got my vid cards just to support the aero interface.

If I recall that...and I think I do...it was quite annoying. I don't get mad though, I get even. And as soon as I learn how to play that cartoon, I will! |
