Hey guys,
I am sort of....illiterate when it comes to computers. So, I was wondering if anyone could walk me through what I need to do in order to get one of those kickass signatures with a color background and my rig infor written into it. Thanks, and sorry for the newbish question. Matt |

you pic an image and then you put your info on it then you upload it to the web somewhere like photobucketand then take the address there and post it here.
once you get the address come back and I will explain the rest ;) |

DST summed it up nicely...
After you find a background photo or an image that you want to use, then use an editing program like Photodhop or Illustrator to add text and other graphics onto it to your liking.
When you're happy with the result of your nifty artwork then save it as a .jpg file at a modest size (under 150K should be good to keep the bandwidth low on the forum).
Then upload your image to a web hosting service as DST said. Photobucket is popular for uploading pics. Not sure if you can upload the image directly to the DS forum and link directly though. I couldn't do it.
I actually used a freeware program called GIMP that someone in here posted up, and created mine in a matter of minutes. I was just toying with it to see what it can do. Not too bad for freeware...!

GIMP is a remarkable program. I have used it to create forum sigs, original artwork, and photo edits. My next journey into open source graphics creation/manipulation will be into the world of Blender. As others have explained, you use a graphics editor ( I use GIMP because it is easy to use, powerful, and most importantly FREE), and then upload to a host such as Photobucket. My sig is a direct link to Photobucket, I can confirm this is permitted as DST4ME suggested.
