once again here, trying to consider a single gpu system, I was told here that for the newest demanding games sli is a must, however I been told otherwise by others. I had a chance to try bf3 on a recent 27inch imac at 2560 by 1440, it was running ok at med settings, tried some others like mafia II, resident evil 5 and would get good results at high settings. So now thinking that if that mobile card can get decent results than going to a real desktop 570/580 or 7970, would almost double those results.

Depends on the game and its settings, if you are gonna lower settings then yes one card will be fine, maxing out settings will need sli.

Yes cause you are paying more but not getting more game perfomrance, add a ssd to ode 1 and you have the same performance as ode 2 for much less and better cpu cooling and some other parts.
