Hello I'm new and this is my first post. I have some questions on the Slade PC.
Budget: $3000 (can be a little over no greater than $3400 Expectations: It has to be future proof. I want a computer that will last me a while and that will be able to outpace Microsoft's new failure of a gaming console the xboxone. I want a computer with a motherboard x79 chipset option. With the Slade pc I am choosing the 3rd option at $3100. Usage: Gaming Special Needs: The Slade chassis frightens me. It looks like a metal prison box that will overheat and die quickly. I know that is not the case as I watched the video on the Slade still the airflow and the way the chassis is designed makes me nervous. I am thinking about selecting another chassis. What do you guys think? Saved Ticket #: [Please Type Here] Specifications: I like the default options on third slade starting at $3100. I would like a GTX titan on it, but that is too much money so I'll settle on the 780 card. The only thing I am worried about is the case and airflow. So I'll add Digital Storm HydroLux Thermal Management Control Board & Software Upgrade All Fans to Corsair Airflow 140mm Performance Edition (Up to 6 Fans) Fan Blow-Holes: VREG/CPU & Graphics Card Area: Laser Cut and Mount a Side Window 140mm Fans Noise Suppression Package Stage 2 (Optimized Airflow & Fan Speeds with Noise Dampening Material Ok do I need all these fans? Is this just overkill? I never had a an actual dedicated gaming computer before. I have an old computer that was partially upgraded and then it died. It was a Dell. Anyway I started shopping around for a new a computer. After checking out -------- and -------- and seeing the awful reviews on the customer service, I concluded that I don't want a hastily assembled machine that will break. When I checked for bad reviews on DigitalStorm and found hardly any I was blown away. There were a few bad reviews to be sure, but I can tell just from the site that Digital Storm is a company that I want to buy from. See if you think you would like this config: Its the Haf X, it is recommended for the best air cooling system, it has slow moving fans that move lots of air.

Here are modified versions of what AW777 made above:
875530 $3159 - X79 CPU + 780 SC 875528 $3221 - Z87 CPU + Titan SC Changed PSU to the EVGA Nova 750 - modular wiring so if it fails you won't have to rewire your system. Also made all SSD Samsung 840 Pro & HDD Western Digital Caviar Black. Added some lighting and opted for a Stage 1 OC on the CPU. Under special instructions you can ask them to add additional case fans as needed (I believe there is space for 1 additional 200mm fan on the front of the HAF-X). Change FREE t-shirt as needed... If you still wanted extra control over the cooling system, you could add the Hydrolux controller for $99 (don't forget to change the lighting to the Hydrolux setup). DS is still running the Summer Sale so if you order soon, you'll save $100 on your order (making the Hydorlux controller FREE!)... Since you're using it primarily for gaming (and probably some web surfing), I'd go with the second option using the Titan SC. The 4-core 4770K is more than enough for gaming whereas the 6-core 4930K is overkill and 99% of games won't even use the power. Good Luck!  Edited by fstcvc - 29 Sep 2013 at 10:14pm |
