Hey guys, I'm working out a Slade config that will hopefully be pretty quiet when I need it to be, yet still allow me to burn noobs to sl*g as the ultimate gaming crutch.

I'm concerned that this config will:
1) produce more than 40db of noise pollution.
2) not have enough airflow to support dual 780 ti's.
If this is true, I'm hoping that I can figure out a solution through DS that doesn't take me over my budget. Further complicating the issue, I'm of the understanding that the 240mm radiator options would severely affect the quietness of this case, but it's unclear to my why.

In addition to the main critique, I also have some miscellaneous airflow Questions:
By default, the fans' speeds should be regulated automatically according to how much I'm taxing the system, right? How much less effective is this method rather than using an airflow controller, such as the HydroLux Control Board? Are any of DS's options compatible with the Slade without negatively affecting the low noise generation? I'm particularly afraid of the Chassis Airflow modifications.

Any and all criticism/help is welcome (including if you're a kind billionaire and wanna hook a brother up).

Budget:
Up to $4.5k for just the case and everything inside of it.

Expectations:
Super quiet for work, super fast for play. When running Adobe Audition or Pro Tools for work, I hope that the case's noise won't exceed 40dba. I have a dual monitor setup, but plan to only play games (Battlefield 4, Wildstar, Star Citizen) on one of them at 1080p with max graphics settings. I also expect to be future-proofed for games through 2015.

Usage:
Simple but clean voiceover recording and hardcore gaming.

Special Needs:
I realize there isn't much info on this yet, but I'm hoping this will eventually work well with the Occulus Rift.

For this build, I plan on using a touchscreen monitor as my secondary monitor.

I already have all the soundrecording hardware, including USB preamp/converter, so this is not included in the budget, nor is a soundcard included in my config.

Lastly, I've already got a copy of Windows 8 Pro sitting on my desk.

Hi enzomatrix... You put together an excellent build.   Not much I would change , Except, the case that houses everything. You are right in being concerned with cooling. A very quiet case means limited airflow. The 550d is quiet because the side and top openings are covered by acoustic panels. If you remove the top to accommodate a 240mm rad for example, then the noise level increases. This setup might work in that case but it will get higher temps.

My suggestions...if you need very quiet for your recording, etc. then go worth a single 780ti and drop cpu overclock if needed. DS does test and will let you know. The single 780ti on a single 1080 monitor might be all you need.
Option 2 , imho, is to stay with this build but go with a Hafx or Hailstorm 2 case. They are reasonably quiet cases, looks can be deceiving, with the video cards actually being where most of the noise under load comes from.

If you stay with the 550d , you can always add another video card later if needed, but might want to open the side to add a fan or two. The fans can be very quiet , there are quiet options by Corsair, but the video card noise will migrate out a little more.

Hope this helps.

The dual 780ti's inside the Slade will probably create more noise than you want. bp22 made some good recommendations - I would look at using a single 780ti and drop the OC on the GPU (as the card runs hotter, the fans will get louder to cool them). Even the heat of the internals of the case may cause the minimal fans to crank up quite a bit to cool the interior down. Might want to look at the HAF-X for air cooling or the HailStorm II for liquid cooling. Not sure if DS has the ability to test the dB on a system so that way you can configure it with maximum speed but still staying quiet. Perhaps they can measure systems they are currently building for other customers with similar configurations? I have a pretty extreme build and using a dB app (not sure on it's accuracy) my system runs @40dB when idle and @50dB when at full tilt. Typing on the keyboard or clicking the mouse makes a louder noise than the system does! 40dB is a tough goal to hit when running multiple fans at varying speeds and loudness. A single 780ti @idle is nearly 40db and under load over 50dB - and that's just the GPU. The closed loop liquid coolers (H80 vs H100i) are about the same (30/40dB idle/load) but you'll have to remove some the top sound damping panel to use the H100i.
