Hey Noob question here... If there are only a few games out there that actually support more than 1 video card why is there such an emphases placed on systems with 2 or 3 SLI?

You seem to have picked up a case of bad info somewhere, quite contagious that. The reality is basically the opposite of what you are assuming. "In Soviet Russia, SLI support you!" Games don't need to support SLI/Crossfire, it can just be implemented at a hardware/driver level, oblivious to the game. That's the harder way of doing it though, and there are definitely gains to be had by optimizing a game with SLI/Crossfire in mind from the start, but there's always the quick and dirty method if they don't. Other than maybe some really old games I can't even think of any games off the top of my head that won't work with SLI, though there are perhaps a handful that do not benefit much from it. World of Warcraft is the only notable example I can think of offhand, while it can benefit from SLI the gains are not much, but it is easy to run so that doesn't really matter either way. |

I play Age of Conan that has tremendous graphics in DX10. This game is not compatible with SLI. I've been told that most games only use 1 graphics card... so your saying I've been cheating myself on BFBC2 by keeping my SLI off?

like dragoon said sli works at a driver level. It will technically work for almost all games. The problem surfaces now whether or not your going to gain any fps or have negative effects. What i usually do if im insure is first look at the nvidia control panel and see what settings it has for the game in question. Second would be a quick google search to see peoples general reaction to sli in a game. If not just test it for yourself and see how it runs.

As pointed out, all games support sli, not all utilize it correctly, most fps will use sli correctly and good gains to be had, most times sli will give you higher minimum fps and thus eliminating lag.
here is a small list: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Metro 2033 Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Colin McRae DiRT2 Far Cry 2 Crysis WARHEAD Anno 1404
