I am getting closer to making a purchase, and everybody has been really helpful so far, cheers.  Just wondering now, can a single high end card run 1920 - 1200 rez just fine or would you need or be better off with some kind of Sli setup?  And if you do run Sli, would it be better to go with some kind of liquid cooling?  And if so, which set up would be best for the buck?

I run a single GPU and it supports my 24" SyncMaster very well.  It's not necessary to have dual cards, just the right single card.

I also run a single high end GPU (8800 GTX) with two 22 " Widescreen LCD panels and I have no problems.

The second thing to consider is that by choosing a single higher end card now, when you want to upgrade you can then go SLI with a second matching card, which will likely be less expensive when you are ready to do that.

Yeah, a single high end GPU is probably a good way to go at first. Then if you feel you need a second one to give things a bit of a boost, then just buy another one, SLI isnt too hard to do yourself.

Ed, what pixel resolution are you running that 24 incher at?

Anybody, lets just say I'm to lazy to research this myself. Can somebody expalin why SLI doesn't produce higher frame rates at lower resolutions?

In lower resolutions, it's more of a CPU limitation than a GPU.

Bill, I'm running at max res.  I think it's 1900X1240 or 1940X1200?  Something around that.  I'm too lazy to check for Bill, so if anyone wants to confirm what I have, please feel free to correct me.
