I have been going back and forth for a while and I am still unsure as to whether or not SLI is worth it...
For instance, what would be the performance differences between
1) an 8800 GT
2) 8800 GT(2x)
3) or 1 8800 GTX?
** assuming the rest of the system is exactly the same between the 3 above options
-the system I plan to put together will primarily be used for gaming

2 8800GT's outperform 1 8800 GTX in almost everything. Ill try to find some nice colorful graphs for you :)

true, but an 8800GTX is still a better card than an 8800GT.
If you're going to spend the money, wait.
Get one 8800GT now, then in may or june when the new cards come out then get the money and get 2 of those.
But if you want the highest scores, go with 28800GTX or 28800Ultras. :)

depends on resolution but this is how it usually is...
SLI 8800GT > 8800GTX > 8800GT you must have good case or aftermarket heatsink for SLI 8800GT.. one of these cards can go up to 120 degrees celsius on load =x Edited by skyR - 28 Nov 2007 at 3:41pm |
