So, I finally bit the bullet and travelled that road less travelled...

I now have a complete water-cooled system.  But I had to cheat...  I got all this last week, and spent a total of 7 hours (3 hours one night and 4 the next) trying to assemble this and just couldn't get it.  I have the Ultra (coolermaster stacker 830) case and I just couldn't figure out where everything goes inside.  I assembled all the blocks to the CPU/GPUs, cut the dual backpane of the 8800GTX to only take a single slot, but couldn't grasp how to assemble the radiators and get them in the case.  The fact that I don't have any tools at home didn't help, either.

So here's the stuff I got:
2x Koolance VID-282 (GeForce 8800GTX/Ultra) for my 8800GTX's:

1x MC-TDX for Intel 775 CPU/Boards by Dangerden for my QX6800:

2x Swiftech MCR120QPK 1 x 120mm Radiator for my CPU and GPUs
Swiftech%20MCR120QPK%20120mm%20Radiator
1x Swiftech MCRES-MICRO reservoir

1x Laing DDC-3.2 (from Dangerden)
 Dangerden DDC-12V

And Clear 3/8" tubing with black mesh over it as well as Blood Red fluid.  I am eventually going to add a pulsating Light to the reservoir that will eluminate the entire cooling lines.  I just have to find something powerful enough to do so.  It would be neat to have my system look like it has a pulse in it's veins.

So Yesterday, I took my gal and my son to work and asked Kenny to show me how to do set it up since I couldn't.  So over the next 6 hours and Kenny's expertise, I finally got it all hooked up and running.  I just wish I could have gotten a good wiring job with the sata cables and power molex lines.

Oh, I am sure ya'll are wondering why I cut that dual backpane to a single backpane?  It's because with the 680i mobo, there's only room for 2 of thse GPUs and 1 expansion card.   Not with watercooling.  Now I can add my physx card and I even added a 3rd GPU (the 7950GT). If you don't want to cut yourself up like I did, you can order this from DangerDen
When I got home, I found that sure, I could run all 3 gpus, because it has to be a G80 GPU to run in sli.  So I am hoping I can borrow one from someone so I can experiment. Wait, I have one from the lan party.  I am going to install that one later and see if I can run 3 graphics cards.
I hope I can take my system back to work so I can have the wiring job finished.   I mean sure, I can do it, but this has to be setup differently than air wire jobs and I just don't have the experience for that.  I mean, I did a decent job, but I want my system perfect.

My only complaint so far is that it doesn't seem to make much of a difference on the temps.  Maybe I don't understand this concept but, I am trying to figure out how to cool these radiators more than just using fans.

You're system is kick-ass. Glad to see our employees dedicated totally into getting a system that is now a Digital Storm machine Thumbs%20Up

We'll work on that wiring job soon. Keep it up! Water cooling just a processor will give you lower temps, but, when you add two 8800 video cards, then things get tight. But, since you did water cool the video cards now, you should jump their clock speeds. Get some volt modding on those video cards as well. I am not sure on how to do it, but, there should be some stuff online. Plus, volt mod the 680i motherboard as well to reduce the VDROOP.

Thanks man!  I really love working for DS and I want my personal machine to reflect our work.  I can't always take a DSO machine (our test systems) to Lan party's so I want to take my system and have it reflect our work.

Volt Modding, eh?  That includes soldering?  the problem with that is I am blind in my left eye, and I can't solder because of the intense need for depth perception, something I don't have.
But Yeah, I've always wanted to Vmod them but I just don't know how too.

now, it's time to learn to overclock my GPUs!!

Kelly, you are the man!

Good to see you’re trying too go huge!

That said, even with your cooling, I think my system has you beat! Ha!

Seriously, why are you putting out all the cash to cool one card?  Am I missing something? Why not go for it on dual cards?

And if you’re trying to show heavy for DSO, why not just build a monster DSO rig to show around?

huh?  I have 3 video cards, a physx card and a sound card.  What are you talking about?  ;)

Heh, and to think I was happy finally pulling my idle/load down to 36C/49C. Your new project is looking super sweet Kelly. Going to see what you can pull on very high settings in Crysis? The game play may not measure up to the hype, but IMO running that at max settings really is the moment of truth for any tricked out system.

Looking forward to seeing some pics of the final product posted and some disgustingly high 3DMark numbers. Big%20smile

Thanks!  As far as disgustingly high 3dmark numbers, I have yet to figure out how to get those.  Mine right now is at 17k.  I am hoping that I can refrigerate my coolant a little more than it currently is then I am going to attempt to Overclock my GPU's.
Right now, I want to oc my CPU higher, but I also don't want to OC it so high that if I try to oc my GPU's that they'll fry.

As soon as I can afford a digital Camera, I will post pics.

What do you use to monitor your temps?

And, last,y, I LOVE your sig.  WHo made it?

I have two thermal diodes on my Antec HDD cooler. The front display alternates between the two. I mounted one to the back side of my CPU HSF and the other to the back side of a DVD ROM. I have a digital thermometer at my desk to monitor ambient, the first diode tells me case temp, and the other how well the CPU's heat sink is performing given the other two figures and my speed fan readings.

Core and CPU temps I get from speed fan, which I have adjusted to reflect accurate readings as confirmed in Coretemp and Everest. (I tend to get a little obsessive with detail LOL).

I did the sig, heh. Thanks for the compliment. I'm still learning how to use graphics editors, so there's a couple things I'm not completely happy with in it, but I'm (hopefully) getting better.

ah, I guess I am going to have to purchase an actual thermo readout.

What sucks about that is I am going to have to rip my watercooling system apart.  But that's ok I guess... the tube that goes between the 2 graphics cards is too long and putting  a bend in the bottom card.

Speedfan really isn't bad if you modify the settings as shown here, but yeah, I found that having the diodes to mount anywhere you like to confirm temps is very handy when testing how well your cooling is handling heat.

Bound to be some hurdles with the liquid cooling along the way, but that's just more embellishment for later when you're telling the story to your friends. Smile

Edit:

Seems a waste to just toss out art, so I've modified the text field on this first one to reflect a different set of components...
