    Posted: 11 Feb 2012 at 10:28pm
I recently bought the ODE level 3 system. This will be my first experience with the Solid State Hard Drives. My main question is what I should and should not put on them. Should I install games on them to get them to run faster? Should I install editing software like Adobe CS5? Or should I leave it mostly for the opperating system and use the secondary hard drive for all my other software?

Thanks

My system has a 128 GB SSD which I use for the OS and programs. Although not a gamer, but instead use the machine for digital photography and editing, I have all of my programs, including CS5, Lightroom, 3 browsers, financial and tax programs as well as others on the the SSD. Also I've kept all of the relevant temp files, cache, and image catalogs on that drive and currently have about 77GB free. So you should at least be able to put your most used games and perhaps all of them on the SSD.

Games and other programs that have boot and loading times are what you want to keep on the SSD. Your OS being on the SSD is also very good as it reduces the time it takes for Windows to boot up. Your editing programs will do well on the SSD but try to keep your general mass file storage saved to the HDD.

Everything's pretty much been covered here, this comes up from time to time on the forum, another short thread is here: http://www.digitalstormonline.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=16831 but it basically just reiterates whats already been said.

Congrats on your new ODE! Awesome
