Topic: Sound Card / Media Player Issue Posted: 26 Jun 2009 at 8:00am |
New to the forums but recently bought a DS computer (specs below) and have been experiencing a sound issue. Randy from DS helped me bc one issue was the dongle for the Razor Barracuda sound card was loose and we also re-seeded the sound card.
I am still experiencing issues and usually the sound issues occur after I get this windows error... looks like your windows media player crashed.
is your windows up to date also? try the sound card drivers as suggested and see if this is still happening and make sure your windows is up to date. |

Thanks for the suggestions but both windows and drivers are up to date. I even reinstalled sound drivers for card.
Any other help would be appreciated. |

Hmm... does it crash during the opening animations for games or just randomly? Cause wmplayer.exe shouldn't even be open otherwise... unless that's something my XP self doesn't know about Vista.

The wmp does not crash during game play. Usually it crashes when no applications are running including wmp and I am afk from the computer.
I can also open wmp and play music with no issue prior to it crashing but once it does crash... I have no sound. I will try the sound card idea but not sure how to get on board sound to work? |

not asking you to use on-board, just trying to see if we remove the sound card and its drivers from the equation, the problem still happens or not.
also try reinstall wmp and see if that helps. |

I would try to re-install WMP but how do you accomplish this? I thought it was baked into windows?

You know what I thought like xp you could just install it but I see its not the same with vista. In media player from its help section choose update and see if it needs any updates.
