I have pretty much decided on everything that I am going to get for my DSO computer (hopefully I can order it within the next couple days). There is one last thing that I am having problems deciding though for my gaming computer. Out of the sound cards that DSO has available, what are the PROs and CONs of each or does it not really matter much?

Well unless you are an audiophile and/or have a really nice sound system it's not worth it IMO. Because without a nice sound system you won't even really be able to tell a difference.

I'm pretty sure widdlecat posted a very thorough comparison of the various sound cards...

Unfortunately I can't find it, but i'm fairly sure DST knows where it is ^^

I love my Fatal1ty Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fata1ity Champion Series sound card. Sounds great and lets you hear 3D sound with a regular set of headphones.  Pretty cool looks and good gaming performance.

DS doesn't offer it in their configurator but I bet they can get it for you, but I use the Auzentech X-Fi Forte.  This has to be the best gaming sound card I have ever used, and it works best paired with a headphone.  It only cost me $125 and it's low-profile (has the normal brackets too) much like the x-fi xtremegamer but it's a much better product.  They use better components and I could easily tell the difference between this card and my xtremegamer.  They also have a built-in headphone amp which can drive even higher powered headphones quite easily.  One of my best gaming purchases ever!

Yes, if you need X-Fi for your games, Auzentech is the way to go. They have better board layouts and their drivers for X-Fi are superior to Creative, in spite of the fact that Creative owns the license for the X-Fi chip. Regarding the mention of it driving "higher powered" headphones, I believe what you mean is lower impedence high quality headphones, which can be harder to drive.

I got an ASUS Xonar DX2.. i feel it's kind of overkill, but then i got bit a big by the audiophile bug.. it's amazing.. just prepare to shell out some money for equivalent good speakers or headphones (more audiphile brands like GRADO or SENNHEISER). Widdlecat says in his analysis that this card isn't that good for games, but i think it's pretty kick ass..

Well checking the driver updates for the Xonar, they have fixed some of the games that had EAX compatibility problems with Xonar.  So at this point its a good buy lol.

Actually for me now I'm torn between the X-Fi Forte and Asus Xonar lol.

FYI, Widdlecat is female thanks Ouch
If you're really audiophile-centric... or sumtin like that... the ASUS Xonar Essence is aimed for high end headphone users. Very nice card. While I still favor the Xonar for sound quality, I may not go with any card now that I've found some integrated single-ended triode amps w/ built in USB DAC. One I've seen retails for $800, so it's not too expensive for high end audio aspirations. Most any small monitor speaker should do, since they'll be right within arms reach. I have a pair of linaums that I'd be using.
