All the games I play are mostly multi-player games, which I talk to my teammates in Ventrilo...I also listen to a lot of music so with that said sound quality is important to me..I have a creative sound card right now which I paid $80 for..I dont care for using the on board sound, never had good luck with those..Should I get a sound card with my system,or should I save the money and just use the card I have now and install it when my system comes in.
Second part question..If I will install my own card, should I inform DS that I am doing so,so they can leave space for it,is that needed?,does it matter..You want fries with that? ![]() |

If you have a proper sound system setup ($100+) than a sound card is worth it =p
Well depending on your motherboard PCI layout, there should always be enough room for a sound card if you are getting a single graphics card. However if you are getting SLI, there might not be enough room so it wouldn't hurt to let them know. |

I have the Soundblaster X-fi Fatal1ty version and I love it. Nice big volume controls on the front of the case and it provides for 3D sound with headphones. Sound quality is about as good as it could be. This was a more expensive option than onboard sound but I wanted the best gaming experience that money could buy. When I play World at War it is total immersion both with outstanding sound and incredible graphics thanks to my Nvidia 295.
Also have a Velociraptor 10,000RPM OS/Game drive makes changing scenes seemless and extremely fast.
You will be happy with all the systems that DS supplies. The new Extreme prebuilts look great for those that want a hot gaming machine at a reasonable price. Our go crazy and customize your dream machine to make it special just for you like a lot of us have.
Love my computer.

Do you use headphones or speakers? If I only use headphones I am not sure that sound card would be right for me?..Or would it? |

I don't use the "gamer" headsets... they are all gimmicky and the sound quality on the majority of them isn't all that great. I use a pair of Beyerdynamic DT-770 80ohms cans powered by my Auzentech X-Forte sound card (it has a built in mic-amp) and it sounds INCREDIBLE.

They aren't really big at all... they are meant to cover your whole ear. There is no mic, since they aren't a headset, just merely higher quality headphones.
For my mic I use a zalman clip-on mic:
It's louder and sounds way better than any built-in mic I've ever used. Some headsets have decent mics though, but this zalman clip-on is fantastic.

Davis,
I use headphones with my system. I love how the Fatal1ty sound card allows 3D sound with headphones. The headphones is actually a headset with a mike for gaming. I went for this expensive option because of the simple convenience of having knobs for volume & mike on the front console panel as well as connections for RCA plugs on front etc. A lot of people choose on-board sound, but when you lay out your dream machine you just want what you want. For example, I got 2 DVDs writers that were exactly the same so that I could switch between the 2 and have the instructions be exactly the same. Whatever system you pick from Digital Storm you will be happy! Folks spend a lot of money for minor upgrades that are not really that significant. Sometimes you just want that 10,000 RPM velociraptor and the top of the line audio card. I knew at the time I wanted the best video card 295 so I got it. Now I think people are getting a pair of 275 video cards instead. This stuff changes day to day. Just get the system that makes you happy. The folks on here will help make sure that you don't make a serious mistake. I didn't go for liquid cooling because I just didn't want the minor hassle of checking levels. This reduces the max OC some. I was able to get 3.59 on an air cooled system which was just fine for me. I hope that you will be happy with your new DS system. ![]() |

A few questions for you if I may. What headphones do you use? Did DS overclock your computer for you? I was thinking of air cooling, but I get worried when the cpu is overclocked..But then again if I have a 5 year warranty,I shouldnt really care. ![]() |
