Howdy,

I'm thinking the following for my new gaming desktop. Trying to keep it around $3000. Plan to add a second GPU in a couple years when the price comes down and I need to catch back up. Plan on using a single 27" 1080p display ang again maybe adding a second in a higher resolution in a couple years. Any thoughts?

Hi samskara.....  Welcome to the forums.

You put together an excellent build.  Strong    I would make a couple of suggestions, however.   The Noise Suppression Package is a waste with the ODE 600T case.  The material won't do much with large side window and open top  and it does have a fan control in the front. The fan control doesn't adjust all that much but the fans aren't bad at all.

The Upgraded LED fans also won't work with the ODE, unless DS will replace the H100i 2x  fans   with 2 of these.   The ODE 600T case has a front and top 200mm fan that work great as-is.  If you wanted the LED fans for looks , the Marauder C70 case or 300R case would be needed as both have mounts for fans on the front and side.   I would stay with the ODE but your choice as always.

If you want the option to sli the gtx 780Ti, I would go with the 850W Corsair RM.  The 750w might work ok but it is close and the 850w gives you more headroom for the future.

For tops in dependability, quiet and still very good cooling, the Noctua D14 instead of the H100i is my pick.  It is huge but works great and leaves little to go wrong.  No tubing, pump, or fans that need adjusting if the H100i get noisy .  But, the sealed units like the H100i are super popular and do work very good with a great reputation.  Just more than can go wrong for me.  Either will get the job done.

Real nice config.  At least drop the Noise Suppresion and LED fans and you have a strong, reliable build.

Hope this helps and good luck. Big%20Smile

Edit... I would go with Windows 8.   There is a lot of hot debating going on about Win 7 vs 8, but the latest DirectX 11.1 and 11.2 drivers are Win 8 only.  With Win 7 , IMHO, you'll just get increasingly behind.

Thanks for the feedback, I had actually just dropped the noise package and upgraded to Windows 8 after doing further research but I didn't know about the fans and it is always good to have someone confirm what you have only recently learned. I'll have to do some research on the D14 as I'm not familiar with it but I appreciate having options.

I agree with bp22 on the changes - drop the sound dampening & LED fans, switch to the Noctura (the ODE is a great air cooling case), go with the Corsair 850RM if SLI is in your future and go with Win8.1 over Win7. The only other change I'd recommend is the CPU OC to Stage 1 - the Haswell's are tough to get over the 4.4 mark while keeping the system stable - you won't notice a difference between 4.4 & 4.5 anyway...
