First post, so I apologize if this is in the wrong spot.

About the "Special Deals" that ship in 48 hours:  Is there anything 'wrong' or were they returned items or anything...?  Or just a surplus of parts that built up and DS is just trying to offload them?  The reason I ask is almost the EXACT rig I've been planning on newegg has popped up on the special deals (Yes, I lurk DS a shameful amountOuch) and it's only around $200.00 more than what I was planning... and to be honest the time I would spend getting my build up and running is worth the $200 I'd rather spend to have DS do it as well as an actual warranty on the system / peace of mind.

Thanks for looking!

The special deals are all brand new parts and such.  They make special deals like tese with those particular parts because they are tried and true and DS is 100% positive that these will perform great!  Also, with the amount of systems they build, these special deals reflect what they consider to be an example of what people are buying the most.  Hence, you said yourself it was almost exactly what you wanted Ouch
They try to come up with a great gaming rig for most peoples preferences and price ranges, which is why there are i7's and core 2 sytems.
Get it, you wont regret it, and you will get it fast too!

Ah, thanks for the quick response.  I might give in and get my first pre-built in the 10 years I've been building my own :p  Thanks again, cheers!

Wellll.. I play games at 1280x1024 NOW.... that's part of the issue :P

My budget is around $2,000-$2500

I was looking at the i7 920 with a Geforce 280 or 285 with 6gb of ram Vista 64 (want to load ubuntu as well :P ) 750w PSU of course.

I can't make myself get anything but the HAF case as well... I just really love the look of it and it looks like it has sooooo much room for upgrades later on down the line.

The only REAL issue is the base system I want (Just the tower) is about $300-$350 more on DS and it comes with no monitor.  The one I priced out on Newegg is cheaper and I would be getting a nice Samsung 24" along with it... but then again DS means I don't have to build it and worry about bugs or those little things that never quite work out right and piss you off until you finally decide to spend a weekend to fix it... and a warranty as well would be nice this go around...

Decisions decisions...  I pretty much refuse to go to cyberpower/Ibuypower... those places look shadier than a back alley rolex salesman.

Yes, the special deals are brand new systems. We just build these in bulk, lower our costs, and they are easier for us to test and deliver to customers.

We pass the savings onto our valued customers,
