I just read a slitely dusterbing forum post regarding special ordering cases, and the extra $$ it requires as well as the fact that special case orders will be overlooked by warentee.

Now because I my self and im sure many others are wundering if not considering a special order of some sort. I myself would love to special order a Antec 1200 full tower case when the time comes.

So it would REALLY be great if DS could clear this up. Like what exactly are the rules regarding special orders, cases or otherwise.

Would it be better and cheaper to just order a case myself from newegg?(er wearever)

And also if I configure a case with internal lighting or upgraded case fans would those be installed in any special case orders??

Thanx for you'r time, and hopefully clearing this up a bit.

The situation is this:

When we have to special order a certain chassis, we don't have special packaging designed to handle mishandling by the shipping companies. Not only that, there are additional labor that goes into handling a special order.

Also, when ever we special order any component, it's yours, and we won't be able to take it back for a refund or a credit. However, supplying a warranty behind the item is totally different.

If you do special order a component from us, we will obviously help you with the warranty and so fourth mainly because we made the purchase for you with our fees.

I believe the return/credit may have been misunderstood by warranty.

One unique category that has additional costs than other types of hardware is the chassis. Mainly because the way we formulate a special order price is different for a chassis:

1. Shipping costs of obtaining the item to Digital Storm (a case can cost up wards $40-$50 in shipping)
2. Additional labor/installation time by a technician which would involve learning/working with the case. [When a technician works with something he knows the ins and out of, it's much easier than trying to plan a build and figuring out how to put it together]
3. Special/extra packaging designed to handle the chassis.

Now that's the chassis, if we are talking about video cards, fans, etc... then it's just:

1. Special order handling fee
2. Labor/time to install
3. Insurance for warranty service in the event of problems
4. Markup

I hope this clears it up,
Alex

Well that does clear it up, though it is a bit disheartening. Hmm food for thought, thank you for the reply.

I guess the extra costs, though I completely understand them. As im sure you understand I don't want to pay ALOT more then retail on a case I could get myself. Would it be any different in my situataion? considering the Antec 1200 is just a big 902??

actually I'm a bit confused, I understand why it will cost more for you guys to order the case and etc.,etc. no problems there, I understand the shipping costs to you an I understand tech taking longer to work on a case he is not familiar with. What I'm confused about is the warranty, if you guys oder the case will it have the 3 year DS warranty on it?

B@d//j0ke, even the prices on the website for the HAF 902 are not just the cost of the case. They include labor, packaging materials, etc... If the extra $175 is really pushing it, give our sales staff a call and we can maybe work out a deal for you.

@DST4ME, yes, the case will have a warranty on it. I doubt it would go bad, but, if it did, yes.

Ok so just to sum it all up for me, as things are still a bit foggy. IF I order this build

Then the cost to get the Antec 1200 Case special orderd will be $175 right? the same price as it would be to get eather the DS 950SI or the DS 1050SI

OR am I mistaken? Or is it $175 extra OVER the retail of the case?

One last question split in two.

1. Will a special orderd case have your 3 year warenty?

2. Will I be able to get a chasses Airflow upgrade with a special order case??

No, that's incorrect. It's an additional $175 over the cost of the chassis if it is a special order. Shipping alone is close to $50, then packaging/box, $50, that leaves $50 for labor and $25 for warranty insurance.

OR am I mistaken? Or is it $175 extra OVER the retail of the case?
It's extra.

Yes.

OKAY. Thank you for the help. I asked this question on a few other posts but no one really knew the answer, or only thaught they did. I have a few months before I have the money to spend on a PC, so I'll see where my budget is at then, and from that decide on weather to special order a case, or to go with one of you'r cases. Eather way im looking forword to it!! I know it will be a awesome rig ether way.

Sorry for all the questions and thnx again.

I thought it had the 3 year warranty, so it was a misunderstanding between James and B@d//j0ke, when he said that it wouldn't have the warranty.

Newegg lists shipping for the Antec 1200 to DS as only 21 dollars via UPS 3 day... not too bad imo.
