This was my speed with comcast cable
http://www.speedtest.net/rank/1118840503.png This is my speed now with AT&T U-verse http://www.speedtest.net/result/508778258.png I find this odd, since my speed on the computer is more or less the same, but those results have a huge difference in them, is there something I am missing? Thanks. |

Distance from server seems one culprit. Also might depend on time of day for that server.

when doing speed test always try the sever closest to you for both tests then also try the main server in NY for both, and try to make it at the same time or as close in time as possible.

I don't have Comcast any more so I can't compare them again, but I did use the closest server to me when I did it. It's gotta be some sort of glitch, isn't 28 mbps a ridiculous speed? The highest Fiber Optic speed AT&T has is 18 mbps.

I'm thinking you lived right next to either a server for speedtest or a server for Comcast and didn't know it. It happens sometimes.
I used to get in the upper 20's because I lived on the grid for FedEx's Corporate HQ. Now that i'm on the city libraries grid, i get around 9 consistently. Nice to know where priorities are...

I do not think the "star" rating has anything to do with your individual score. I think it is an average for all people who have tried Speedtest with that ISP (or some other non-speed related criteria).
My score in the above link is what I usually get. Comcast is always ranked the same regardless of who uses the test. People give Comcast a hard time, but they are extremely fast for everyone that I know.
Your Comcast score does not surprise me at all. Edited by Vipersneak - 03 Jul 2009 at 7:41am |

It drops a little to San Jose, CA. Notice that the star rating is exactly the same.
