First of all I would like to thank everyone for the information they have posted here. It has been very helpful and much appreciated.

I have e-mailed Dave and he has been very patient and helpful. He has given me his ideas and really got me started and intrested in what I am about to purchase.

I have come up with this configuration 105526. If any of you can figure a way to spend my $3000 better please let me know. I am a novice but have been reading a bunch as of late.

I don't do anything on my PC but game and surf the web. My monitor is a 19" Proview LCD if that helps any.

The few things I am not so sure about are:
1. Which key board to get. I have read reveiws but still can't decide
2. Do I even need SLI? Is it a waste of money on this Monitor?
3. Is the GTS 512 as good as the GTX 768? From what I have read it is.
4.Should I bother wating for the new MB?

One more thing this PC will be used for mostly shooters and MMORPG's. Age of Conan and Warhammer.

Your ideas and thoughts are appreciated,
  Kent

1. Whatever keyboard is comfortable for you.

2. No, you don't need SLI.

3. Yes, the GTS is as good as the GTX.

4. No one knows the exact date of release for 790i and x48. So that's up to you.
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star.

When do you want to purchase? New cards come out in late Jan/Feb already. But if you're going to purchase now just go with the GTS, well worth your money.

For that monitor size you don't need SLI unless you want AA/AF on really high, you could go with a GT or GTS and be set for at least 1-2 years. Both the GT/GTS are nearly as good as the GTX but the GTS is almost on the same level for $100-200 less.

The only new mobo's that will be coming out are the x48/790i, which are just DDR3 based mobo's.

Buy your keyboard/mouse from newegg, much cheaper.

I would go with that setup(possibly go with the GT instead) and save the rest of your funds for one of the new GPU's coming out later in the year.

Pro case with extra fan
Quad Q6600 2.4 OC'd 3.1!
Nvidia 8800GT
Asus Maximus Formula Mobo
2xgb 800mhz corsair

Much better setup, although I recommend dropping the CPU OC and windows tweak which can both be done on your end for free. Picking up 2 more gigs of ram and switching to Vista Premium 64 would 'future' proof your rig for a little while as well.

Definitely go with a GT for now, and snag one of the 9 series when it is released if you plan on keeping up.

Woah remove that windows thing, I modified the config he posted and didn't notice that.

64bit is the future but by the time that becomes mainstream we'll all need new parts, 32bit will still be the standard until probably windows 7 at the earliest.
