Either/or. Assuming you have a fairly recent CPU, it's not going to make much difference. Maybe "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" should prevail.

Yep, it's really up to you. Just look at the pros and cons of it. However if you're concerned about the impacts of indexing on SSDs then yeah, don't worry about that. Windows manages SSDs far better than it used to, and all the disk management tools now recognize SSDs automatically. Indexing can be CPU heavy, but any recent CPU is going to do just fine with it, and even older CPUs can obviously do it as indexing has been around for a long time, you'd just see higher CPU usage spikes. Personally I used to turn it off years ago, but I've left it on for the past decade or so and my SSDs have all done just fine, Windows works just fine, and my CPU does just fine, plus I get the benefits of an indexed drive. I think a lot of the fears around indexing are leftover baggage from another time, sort of like "cleaning" your registry.
