SSD Installation problems

Hello everyone, I have a question.
       I just got a Samsung 840 evo 250gb SSD for Christmas. I hooked it up in my Vanquish level 2 pc, connected the SATA and power connector. I inserted the installation disk and installed both Samsung Data Migration tool and the Samsung Magician. Everything was ok, the pc recognized that there was a ssd connected.
       I then opened the magician to direct the startup on my ssd but when magician opens it says "searching for devices", and the whole pc freezes, can't move the mouse or anything. I had to shut off the pc and turn it back on.
       Then I opened Data Migration and followed the directions to move my os to the ssd. Once I begin the migration the pc freezes again! I shut it off and bring it back up.
       I looked around on the Samsung website and found a update to the firmware, i installed that but the same thing happened. I am starting to believe that the ssd is conflicting with something else in my system. Does anyone know why this happens?
   
       I could buy the SSD 840 PRO witch includes a usb connector and installs through that. If this doesn't work, please recommend me other ssd that are good.
