I was spec'ing out a system and wondered about SSD drives. They have all the makings of a fast system and would really help as my 1st drive but wondered if anyone else uses one and what are your thoughts?
Worth the extra $$? Am I better off with something else? That's really the only thing left I am debating before my purchase. -BTT |

I suggest you post the spec of the whole system with your budget and resolution you gonna be gaming at in the config section and let us help you with the whole thing, I can't tell you how many times people have said "I should have asked you guys on the forum before I purchased".
it all depends on your budget and application, at the end you are looking fast load times of games and apps, for gaming, thats what faster drive will do for you. Edited by DST4ME - 02 Nov 2009 at 7:08pm |

Oops. Sorry :)
Ticket Number: 349768 I would like to keep it below 4k total with discounts please. This will be my X-mas, b-day for the next century ;) I play MMORPG's (EQ2 and Aion) and FPS's under very intense graphic requirements given if I spend the $$... I want high frame rates and little lag (within reason). Thanks! |

Ok so questions based on 349808
1. Why not i960? 2. Why not 2x 285 video? 3. No overclocking video and memory? 4. I would like the enhancement so why not included? Touch 2000? 5. No OS boost? I did some mods on that and came to 4k which is fine. Am i missing something? Plus... OMG... the tweak discount ran out. (sigh) |

1. cause you won't notice the difference between 960 @ 3.7GHz and 920 @ 3.7GHz.
2. cause you won't notice the difference between dual sli 275/285 at that res. 3. again will not notice the difference between cards oced and not. 4. fan enhancement brings noise enhancement and HAF 932 has great airflow stock, touch 2000 is not needed. 5. you will not notice any gains from OS boost. Thanks! I did not know that resolution played a major role in those other decisions (I thought I knew more than I did)
One last question... the case... I chose another case but you chose the HAF 932. Reasoning? |

better airflow, more room.
at any resolution, once you get to 60 fps then what cards you have in your system won't matter, you won't notice the difference between 60 fps and higher. Edited by DST4ME - 02 Nov 2009 at 11:37pm |

How noisy will these builds be, with either CPU liquid cooling, or air cooling for the entire system? That's a lot of fans.

well my configs don't have the upgraded fans, so no noise from that, the cpu cooler is not loud either, 90% of your noise will come from your gpu's fans.
