I just ordered my computer today and elected for stage 3 cooling. I am not positive but the difference between stage two and three is they replace the case fans that would come with your computer with scythe fans. These fans are usually quieter and push more air than the standard cheap fans most cases come with. |

I'd like to know more as well.
Mainly...how quiet is stage 3, and is it sufficient for overclocking.
If it's quiet and cool, I think I will go with that over liquid cooling, less upkeep and hassle.

Brian, Glenn is right about the upgraded fans. Also when I was at DS they let me hear the fans and they were not loud.
Glenn, I'll leave it up to the experts as I'm not real computer savy but I would think standard cooling with an extra fan or so, or even stage 2 cooling would suit your needs.
I was going to go liquid but after talking to some of the DS guys I went with stage 3 over liquid. Here is what I wound up buying. I went with a system I plan on upgrading once the 9800s are released. Also I plan on OC my processer, vid card, and memory:
EDIT***SEE NEXT POST FOR UPDATED CONFIG****
Buttom line I highly recommend talking to the DS guys about your configuration prior to buying. They are more then willing to help you, and will go over your set up and tell you if there are any compatibility issues and such.

I am surprised and disappointed that DS has not bothered to answer either this thread or the thread in configuration discussion about what Stage 3 is. This is unfortunate because the configuration page has not been updated to explain what Stage 3 is either.
I really would like to see what they have to say on it.

I know Duke answered this question on another thread. Still, stage 3 is where we upgrade all of the fans to Scythe fans. We also add case fans where we can. That's really all there is to it. We just upgrade all of the case fans and fill the case up with as many fans as it can handle. Just so you know, we use the S-FLEX Scythe fans.

This info should be added to the info page on cooling. Since it only explains stage 2 and not stage 3
