well ive talked to mike on the phone at DS and will get called back on Mon, but wanted to throw it up on the forums here see if any one has advice. have a ups back for all our computers. it has a program. i updated it on my desktop all went well.  i updated it on my gf's and after i installed it, restarting started to have issues.  it goes to the desktop, the netork icon on the bottom right spins and my icons appear on my screen.  my windows side gadget and stardock program that has icons doesnt come for 1-2 mins.  i hear the sound of unplugging /plugging in a usb device twice and everything appears. so my startup has slowed down tremendously.

internet works literally right away even with the network logo spinning but everything is really lagging behind.   after it all starts it works fine.

things ive done are startup repair, chkdsk, sfc scannow, uninstalled all usb devices/unplugged them all and nothing has changed. used ccleaner, registry repair, system restore to more than a week ago and nothing. event viewer shows a few errors but im not sure they are related. one was id 3011 and 3012 which is supposed to be fixed with lodctr /r. absolutely nothing has fixed this. the program that was installed was cyberpower powerpanel personal edition. after i restarted first time i saw a box appear quickly when it was on the blue screen that says shutting down...was too quick to see what it was. any ideas what i can do?

That's a tough one, you've done everything you could think of. Basically from what I understand is that this started to happen after you updated a UPS backup program?

You might have to do a fresh install of Windows...

Yeah exactly.  i installed the newest version and after i hit restart, i saw that quick box appear during shutdown but couldnt see what it said. after it restarted its been doing what i explained since. welcome screen is slightly longer not by much. all down in the taskbar to the right except the geforce experience and my audio take about a min plus to appear.

Out of curiosity, does that program "sync" with the UPS in any way? Have you tried to remove the PC from the UPS?

I wonder if whatever is loading and bogging you down is showing in task manager under Processors.  Memory usage might give you a clue.

Another good tool is msconfig.    Type it in Start - search to get there.    All startup programs are listed with the option to disable them one at a time .    There is also a diagnostics startup to help isolate issues, but I haven't used that in a long time and can't remember what's what with it.

Yeah ive used the msconfig, always do that once in a while to disable useless things.ill try the diagnostic start see what happens. when mike was on the phone we did selective startup and load startup items was unchecked. ill see what it does.

My anti-virus, Norton and mcAfee in the past, could be disabled permanently, until i told it otherwise so it was off during a reboot.

Edit....

I might have missed it, but have you tried uninstalling the CyberPower UPS program to verify whether that is the issue?

If all else fails, and I hate messing with registry, you can have CCleaner do a registry clean, scanning for conflicts, etc.  I believe there is a backup step, just in case.

Dang.  You're making this tough. Hahaha

Here's something I stumbled across.   But, you probably did it. Big%20Smile

http://www.uninstallgeek.com/programs/PowerPanel-Personal-Edition-1-3-uninstall-tool.html

It might mean re-installing the program and starting the uninstall over.

You got me.   I'm sure you have, but run a full virus scan and use Malwarebytes to look for anything that doesn't belong.     Long shots, but.....

Other than  an OS re-install, i don't know.    If I come across anything I'll get back.

How was the UPS hooked up to your computer?

If it was USB did you disconnect it?

I am just saying this because I had a USB device once cause a long bootup issue when it was plugged in one time.

That brings up a thought.   Your SSD does appear to be loading rather quickly, but maybe what's loading from  the HDD is lugging you down.  Try running Disc Cleanup form System Tools.   Again, a long shot, and you probably did it, but worth a shot if not.

just ran the disc cleanup, crossed my fingers but no luck.  it configured windows after, did a restart to see if it did. when it configures windows or sits in the welcome screen and that takes a bit, it all loads up normal once it hits the dekstop.   after a restart though, and the welcome screen is only a sec or two then it takes a minute plus for it all to load.

Sitting here with a glass of merlot I have a couple of more long shots. Go into Bios and make sure boot priority is correct, meaning SSD is first or maybe second behind optical drive.   Make sure Network adapter isn't boot priority.

Unplug your optical drive, CD/DVD, from mobo or on backside in case it's trying to read.

Can you hear the optical drive trying to load during boot?   Any disc in optical drive?

well some new info on the issue.    i uninstalled logitech gaming software that was there for the keyboard.  now side gadgets, object dock with all the icons load up along with all on the desktop so thats a step in the right direction.  the net icon still loads and roughly 10 processes still need a min + to load.i did take a picture of the process list right after it starts and after all  the processes have started and i dont see anything different. so something software /driver is still causing it to be slow. normally everything is loaded under 25 sec/including all processes.

*just to clarify , there was about 20 processes previously that would take a long time to load before the logitech software was uninstalled.
