I upgraded a friends computer from XP to vista and im stuck at a really low resolution, it wont let me change it, the computer doesnt have a video card, and only has two options for its resolution, but i cant select the higher one, any recommendations other than buying a video card.

It might not have a card. On-board video isn't a card. :P

well on board video might just have those 2 options due to lack of driver support for vista, not sure, but at the end its a driver issue like you said.
