So I ordered my DS desktop on November 16th and I'm still at stage 1.
I did order an RTX 3070 GPU and was thinking that could be the hold-up but I'm not so sure. I was hoping to have my order past his stage by now. Should I be worried? I'm annoyed that it's been almost 2 weeks and still no movement on my order.

Hi,

We are just facing a backlog due to Holidays + Covid-19. I checked your order and all the parts are in stock, there should not be any delay on the parts side. Once order is in motion, it should move relatively quickly!

Stage one, y'all, is the back of the line. It's not a problem when it takes awhile, it's the same old standing in line we all know and hate. The line moves steadily, you just can't see it. When it's your turn, you get a notice you went to Stage 2, and if there are no holds for supply problems, you progress from there pretty rapidly. You can get hung sometimes at Stage 5 (testing) if there's an issue, but not too long most of the time. Then in a couple of days it's off to you. WAAAYYY back in '17, mine shipped on Dec 23. It hit two 3 day weekends and several snowstorms on the way to FLA. She came in on Jan 3. Better luck to all!

I just went through the Aventum X build configurator for fun and noticed that it states "Estimated Ship Date: 20-25 Business Days" still. AMD 5950X and RTX 3090 selected.

Which we all know is currently not true with Nvidia, Covid etc etc...

I mean you don't want to scare off potential future customers but then you dont want to create "whiners" in the forums either.

Just my 2 cents.

For the record Im not complaining yet as my system has not reached the 20-25 business days + 1 week for special ordering RAM and SSDs

I ordered on 11/19 and I'm still on Stage 1.
I bet the issue is the 5900X and 6800 XT that I ordered.
It's fine with me though because I'm not in any hurry at all.

It has been 28 days and I’m still in phase 1...I think I’m going to cancel. It’s a shame. I’ve bought two computers from DS in the past but I’m finding their lack of communication and response time to be super frustrating. I know there’s a pandemic right now going on — I work in a hospital — but this is goofy.

Hi Pepto,

It is due to the delay on AMD 5950X. AMD is delivering very low stock. If you need your system sooner, the 3950X and 10900K are in stock.

Hey Nav - I have a 5600x in order. Would I see a notably shorter time to ship switching to the 3900x or the 3800x?

But is the 5600x not? I wouldn't want to switch to a 3800X if there are no issues with the 5600x I ordered.

I did order the 5950x. When I contacted Alex about a week ago, I was told it was due to a delay with the 3080. I understand low inventory issues, but it’s not clear which part is holding up the process. Am I waiting on both? Alex also told me I could expect the PC to ship at the end of December, is that still realistic at all?

I would have to think I’m at the very front of the line for parts, after nearly 30 days of stage 1, but after browsing the forum I’ve noticed other orders with 5950s and 3080s getting fulfilled earlier than mine, despite placing their order later.

Hi,

At first it was a RTX 3080 delay considering we were told by AMD we should receive more 5950X. However, AMD did not deliver on that promise.

If its stage 1, its CPU holding up the process as we don't stage 2 until CPU is assigned.

I cancelled my order today after stage 1 + 30 days (order placed 11/11) No 5950x until January (and that didn’t even sound like a certainty) and no 3080 until next week. It just felt like I was going to be playing leapfrog with inventory forever.

Extremely disappointed. Anyway good luck to you all.

Ordered before Thanksgiving, expected a bit of a delay and still at Stage 1. (Order #150879)

Food for thought to DS - you know there are delays due to parts, holidays, and with the current Covid-19. Maybe be a bit more proactive with customer service and email people that additional delays of 2-4 weeks are possible due to the current situations. People may not be thrilled, but they would be happier than going to a (frankly rather dated system of) forums to dig for information themselves. A small efforted by staff would save a fair amount of time answering the same questions or even having to deal with returns.

+1, Additional transparency of delays would be great

I did noticed in the Aventum X configurator choosing 5950X they now state "AMD Ryzen 9 5950X (16-Core) 4.9 GHz Turbo (BACKORDER ETA JANUARY)" thats a good step :)

but still state "Estimated Ship Date: 20-25 Business Days"

Mine ordered stage 2 on 12/8, ordered processed 11/18, Alex said he would work with the team to get it shipped out by Friday, so we'll see.

10850k, RTX 2060 so no delays on those that I know of, only that they stated they were waiting a bit on Lumos cases.

Fingers crossed to get it before Christmas...

I've been thinking the same thing, I'll hit 20 business days before Friday so more transparency would have been nice.

Yes, Transparency is absolutely vital.

While the delay is frustrating, anyone that knows anything on these new parts knows it is to be expected. DS is not some kinda black market plug for Parts made of unobtainium.

With that said, It's the lack of proactive communication that is damning to customer service. I think they received so many orders that they just don't have the time to keep us updated beyond the automated stages in place. My presumption is that they just work with people as issues come up and direct all other resources to pumping these out.

I'm still holding off on my opinion of the company until the full process is completed. I've certainly had some bad experiences and a couple of good ones with my order place on 11/13. Time will tell, but I'm a rational person so I take all stipulations and current situations into consideration.
