Hello everyone i had a couple questions. I originally planned to buy a new comp by now but some family issues happened and i had to spend most my computer money. So here is what i have, a dell U3011 monitor and my computer has a core2duo e6400 processor and sli 8800 gtx and im not sure on the mother board but its an alienware computer.
I was wanting to replace the 2 8800 gtx sli with one 6970. Is that a good idea or not? The reason i was going to chose to do that is when i get money again and buy a new comp i can use that 6970 with another and run sli. any advice will be greatly appreciated.

If your mobo can support it, it might be a good idea, you could also go 570.

No you want the 2.0 for either 570 or 6970, 570 is more powerful or same as 6970 depending on the res.
if you don't have 2.0, stick with your sli 8800 |

Wow for that res we recommend sli 570 2.5GB, sli 580 3GB, cf 6970 2GB.
when things calm down and you can, it would be time for a new pc. |

Been there, sucks, I'm really sorry to hear that, focus on the fact that everything that is going on is temporary and soon enough you will be back on track.
It just means when you do order the pc, it will be that much more powerful, since it will be a newer tech. |
