Well, ordered my rig a few days ago here from DS. I ordered through them because they have great reviews and came recommended. I have now gone to both Ibuypower.com and cyberpowerpc.com and found that i can buy my exact same rig for a few hundred dollars less.... Considering i don't have the most expensive or advanced rig, did i make the right decision? Or should I have gone with one of the cheaper options to get the same hardware? I'm just having a little buyers remorse and looking for a little peace of mind.....

Yeah, if you ever have problems with your system, you'll be happy you have DS's support people as opposed to those other guys. Those other guys also don't test their systems like DS does to ensure that everything works properly and the overclocks are stable - if I remember correctly from when I was researching my build, ibuypower even offers next day shipping which makes me wonder if they even turn the system on after installing windows.

I think that will all go away when you get your new rig. I never mind spending a little more money to have GREAT customer support. I wouldn't even bother worrying, especially if you already ordered, I think you already know you made the right choice!

when you order from DS, think of it as paying a small premium for getting much more supportive and knowledgeable people at the other end of the phone line, better quality builds, and a great community to consult...

Well I bought a build recently from these guys (its on stage 1). Like you, I have considered buying from the other companies you mentioned, but when you look on - Outside Link Removed -, you will see some low scores. seems like it is a hit or miss with those companies. sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you get problems. I'd rather buy from a company that will guarantee everything will work on the first go around, and not take the risk that I mentioned above.

Just to give some reference.. I had a friend buy from cyberpowerpc.com, and not only did his PC arrive pretty banged up with hardware knocked loose due to poor packaging, but he also came to find out they had installed faulty RAM in his system, I assume because they hadn't even bothered to test it. My DS system didn't even have so much as a single cable disconnected when it arrived, and it fired up flawlessly right out of the box. As others have said, you get what you pay for.

Thanks guys,
I DO feel much better now. There is a LOT to be said for peace of mind, knowing that your equipment is going to work right, and if not, knowing you will get good support. Thanks again to the community, I think my Rig should be shipping today (crossing fingers)!!!! |
