Old arse thing that was bought at the time. I have a Geforce 7900 GT. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130362 GPU I figured I'd get. Reason being is, I think my 7900 is partially fried, I see so many color dots on my screen if there's a black background lol. Apparently one of the comments show that I need 26A on a 12v something? I'm no expert at PSUs so no clue what I'm looking at. " Minimum of a 400 Watt power supply. Well I just describe it as that, what happens is that, depending on the temperature, I see color pixels on the screen (they're more noticeable on any part of the screen that's colored black). It's sorta like dead pixels from the monitor, but it's coming from the GPU.
At 55*C there's very little, at 60*C there's alot lol. I can't print screen it, cause it's the GPU more or less. That's besides the point, it's time I upgraded a little bit anyway, even if I'm getting a new computer, I can make this computer have some umph to it =P Edit: " Minimum of a 400 Watt power supply.(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 22 Amp Amps.)" - EVGA Site Edited by Axel Daemon - 25 Oct 2008 at 10:17pm |

What's wrong with upgrading the GPU anyway? Sure the purpose here was to remove the color dots. But it's a 7900 GT... I'm upgrading to a decent 9 series GPU.....
Are you holding me back in getting a decent upgrade here? For $70? XD; J/k ahaha. Edited by Axel Daemon - 25 Oct 2008 at 10:31pm |

the 9000s pretty much have the same PSU requirement as the 260 GTX

To answer your original question, your existing PSU will run any single card out there. 630w is plenty.
The only minor issue you will have is that your PSU does not have an 8-pin power connector which is needed by the 260/280gtx and some other more recent cards. If you end up getting a card that needs an 8-pin connector, just make sure the card ships with an adaptor (most do).
Also, you don't mention what case you have, but make sure it has enough room for the card you buy. The newer cards are longer than the 7900 and may not fit in an older case.
Good luck!

Every card in the Geforce 9 series is at least 9 inches long.
If you're hurting for space, get a HD4670. ~$70, ~6 inches long, and no PCI-E cables needed. |

Yep yep. Thanks again.
Actually on a small note, while the GPU interface is PCI-E 2.0 my mobo ain't it only has PCI-E x16 slot only. (Being two years old yeah heh.) As far as I read, the only thing this does is that the GPU's full potential isn't tapped into. http://pclivecs.co.uk/images/Motherboard%20pencil.gif Edited by Axel Daemon - 26 Oct 2008 at 1:58pm |

yes I have a 8800 gts sitting on a pci-e x16 folds like a champ and I have no complaints but I don't play games with it, I'm sure you would notice the difference during games.
so you might want to think about that, if its for games. |

Got the GPU, installed it, cleaned the stock CPU heatsink while I'm at it.
Installed new beta drivers..... and it works! Time to test some games and see how things go. Only problem so far.... my calibrating program ain't kicking in! -gets previous drivers- Since it might be because of the drivers.... |

...... Something tells me it's because of the new GPU. This won't work.... The calibration option makes the colors look REAL nice. Guess that won't be happening anymore ahaha. |
