While on the Vanquish II (4) over the weekend we heard a strange "POP!" coming from around the computer.  It was described as if "someone had take some bubble wrap and pops one of the bigger bubbles."  There was no 'electric frying' smell or any visual indication of anything wrong... even stuck my head down to the computer and verified all 6 visible fans were spinning... and carefully monitored the HWMonitor / Speccy readouts to see if anything started to spike.

After about 30 mins of watching, as nothing seemed amiss in the real time readouts, I decided to go back to the games.  While keeping a weather eye on those programs of course.

As mentioned in another thread, when the machine was straight out of the box, I ran Skyrim (Ultra) for 6 hours and barely hit 50ºC.  After the 'pop' Skyrim ran for 4 hours and hit 70ºC.  (Fans listed as 61% - ~1700rpm).

I know these temps are not to be worried about, as 70s and 80s are usual, but the question is what could "pop" like that on a computer and should I be concerned?

(*Edit... Temps are for GPU.  All other temps remained within previous boundaries.)

That 70 degree, like you said, is perfectly fine, and actually more of a typical temp then the 50c.   The popping sound could be the case itself expanding under heat or the gpu fan.    My ODE 600T case , on occasion, makes expanding noises like a fan hitting something or an electrical noise that stops when I touch the top.

Could be other causes so I'd keep an eye on it, or ear in this case.

While helping on the Tech forum it occurred to me that the 230t sits very close to the floor. Keep it on a solid surface so the psu bottom intake is clear for cooling. Don't want that psu overheating.

It is on a solid piece of wood.  A bit nearer to the ground than I would like, but (for now) that can't be helped.  I plan on raising it directly to a desktop when I am able.
