Hi guys,

I was wondering what is the normal temperature of Desktops normally and what it would be when it's running intense applications (i.e. high-requirements-games).

Also, what is the advantage of liquid cooling over fans other than being silent? Is it a lot cooler? Less power required?

On a side note, is a 750W Power Supply on the Gaming Dominator good enough for it's parts? My previous computer had a 400W or 500W and it could not run a 8800 GTX properly (It actually overloaded once and stopped functioning). I know this is a pretty silly question since I am sure Digital Storm knows their stuff but I just want to know how it really works since my previous computer had a power supply problem.

Regards,
Dan

idle temps don't really matter, load temps are what is important, and if load temps are over 85c then you are running in the red.

advantage of frostbite over air is better load temps, this can also sometimes lead to better ox speed.

well the 750w is more then enought for a 285 gtx but if you decide to go sli 285 you will be pushing that 750w.

I'm surprised to hear about your 8800gtx, I'm pushing a 8800 gtx with a 430w on one of my pcs and its been running fine, only shadder is oced tho.

Your previous PC probably had a a case / no brand PSU. Quality 500w PSUs are easily able to handle a single 8800 GTX.

The temperature of your components depends on your ambient temperature (environment). Obviously if you live some place warm, your computer will be hotter compared to someone who lives some place cool.

But generally speaking, the average temperature of a CPU on load is under 50C and for the GPU on load, under 80C. To give you an idea, my CPU only gets as hot as 39C on full load with air cooling (I live in Toronto).
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star.

I think average load around here is like 60 - 70, DS system owners can correct me if I'm wrong, thats for the cpu btw.

So if I want to add another 285 I will need to get a more powerful power supply.

Will Digital Storm be able to give me temperatures as low as 39C at normal room temperature (23C)? If not, what kind of temperatures should I be expecting?
