How high can temps go on a video card before issues develop?

Been playing Battlefield BC2, been having weird map overlays and odd colors and lettering. Max temp I had was 78 degrees on vid card and 68 degrees on my liquid cooled cpu.  Think the 78 is too hot causing the problem or is it game bug?

don't even think twice about it till you hit 90c, but they are set to run warmer then that, if there was something wrong then temps would have been on the hot side.
