Hello all, just a quick question; do you think the Hailstorm is good just the way it's configured off the shelf?
http://www.digitalstormonline.com/comploadsaved.asp?id=415868 price $1992 -10% Of course I would add some lighting and a Samsung P2570 24.6 to include Saitek PZ30AUR Eclipse Red Backlit Wired Keyboard with my logitech mouse. Thanks in advance, I await your replies. HOOAAH |

are you asking because you love the way the hailstorm looks and you MUST have it? because you can get a much better price/performance case. |

On a lot of reviews about the hailstorm (Corsair 800D) they say that this case was practically built for watercooling in mind
Here's one from Hardware Canucks
if you're sticking with Air Cooling there are much better options out there in my opinion Edited by McStrav - 03 Sep 2010 at 10:19am |

Oh i see, I though that since it was pre-configured that was a good deal. I love the power of the 1.5G video card and If there are any suggestions on a good build for under 2k, that will play most games equipped with the upcoming DX11 that will be helpful. I read the post from lender (awesome) btw, and yes he did give me a pretty good build, I'm still just looking at options and the best bang for my buck. I have settled on DS as my computer builder because of this forum and all the great people in it, so who and where I will buy from is a non-issue at this point. Still those nagging questions whether to have a ssd (from intel) or just a standard 500GB HD.
And I will be the first to admit, I did look at CyberpowerPC and Ibuypower, but took the advise from this forum to look at their forums and boy let me tell you it's like night and day, so many issues with BSOD, PSU, Video cards, cheaper parts installed other than what was ordered, this list is endless. So I just want to get it right the first time, after months of research this is home for me, so any suggestions are welcome. And Alex if you read this AWESOME company! |

Hi the12deal,
Einder is right. Drop down to the 922 case, add stage 1 Noctua cooling and get the Evga 3 Edition and you will have a better system for about the same price. Frank |

Hi the12deel,
Sorry for my cryptic remarks. Enders suggested system is a very good choice. Make sure you select the 4 year limited warranty Promo. That gets you another year of warranty for free. !ender_, sorry for the wrong spelling. I thought for months your screen name was lender until I saw someone call you ender. Frank |

So there is no diff. between a I7 950 and I7 870? As I've been going through the forums all I see is don't go below the 930. I hope I posted right and it was understandable, yes I want a system under 2k but I also want something that will last me more than a year. And I was shocked when !ender said it was a "low budget" system OMG 2k is low budget hehe. I looked at the suggested build but there was no option to downgrade the processor. Lastly I am not that computer savvy, so I may get lost in the sauce, but I'll ketchup
Thanks again !ender and Frank |
