First with 4 WD veloceraptors. the transfer rate is fast , 450 MB/ sec. using a Highpoint 3520.Ouch

Here is the issue. The veloc. work great with the 3520, BUT- if you decide to put the veloc. back into service as a single drive SATA using the motherboards SATA controller you will have a problem. Wink

Once the drive is used in the 3520 it somehow corrupts the Veloc's firmware and they need to be returned to WD for re-flashing. What you get in the MB bios is a blank space where the drive model should be and  nothing I have tried will see that drive, Yes,  Data lifeguard will see the drive but once you power down and restart the computer the drive once again is missing from the bios.Big%20smile

I confirmed this with Highpoint and they do say the controller can cause corruption to the WD's firmware.

I am happy with the highpoint 3520, It's a fast controller. I emailed Highpoint with a few more questions. When I get more info I will post it here.

If any of you know of a re-flash program for the veloc's, I would feel a lot more secure with using the Highpoint's.  Data lifeguard does not have the option to re-flash the drives firmware.
