Hello there,

I am currently considering purchasing a system from Digital Storm. I am looking at the Syndicate and Cryo-TEC lines. I was wondering if the Cryo-TEC cooling was limited to the Cryo-TEC line or could it also be placed in the Syndicate line.

I also wanted to know how the base prices are determined because when configuring the PC, the drill down into the configuration does not provide an accurate reflection of cost. For example, what makes the difference in price between the Syndicate and Cryo-TEC lines.

I am considering a base configuration with an 3930X or 3960X processor. I am also considering the 2600 or 2700 processor. Some say the 3960 is overkill. Some say the 3930 is overkill when the 2600 would do just fine for gaming.

Moving on, I am not sure about the memory manufacturer, but the amount of memory would likely be 16GB. The data storage would likely be 1 SSD (not sure about which manufacturer is best) and either one regular hard drive or two regular hard drives.

I am moving toward the Cryo-TEK because here, every little bit helps. Where I live, the temperatures can go from being cool and warm to hot and despite using the central air, sometimes it cannot keep pace with the heat. My current system does not have a problem with heat but every little bit of cooling helps.

I just wanted to get some advice from any of you guys or if you could give me your thoughts. I usually get a new PC every two or three years (I think it is every two years). I figure buy now because Ivy Bridge won't be a really big deal and around the time Haswell comes out, it will be time to order a new PC again (by my schedule). I am fine with upgrading memory, graphics cards, and other components with the exception of processors. I have this fear about using too little or too much thermal grease and making a mess and ruining something.

Anyway, thanks for your time if you are reading this and I appreciate any advice or input you can offer.

Thanking you in advance,

Glenn

p.s.: I typed what I wanted to post perfectly and hit the wrong thing and it was gone. Hope everything I typed makes sense :)

We buy our pcs here so that instead of buying a new pc every 2 years, you just upgrade gpus and you are good to go in gaming, for a couple more then we buy a new pc.

you can't compare Syndicate and Cryo-TEC lines, many things in builds are different.

also heat is an issue for all parts, tec is for the cpu only.

Please post your budget, the use of the pc (gaming, etc) and the native resolution of your monitor in the config section of the forum and we will help you there.
