Budget:
No more than $3,000

Expectations:
I need a much more powerful system than what I currently have (its almost 4 years old). Hoping to get something that'll run newer games at high or ultra settings with ease.

Usage:
I have a feeling I'll mostly be playing Cyberpunk 2077 once it comes out, so that's kind of the main reason I was looking to get a new PC.

Special Needs:
I'll admit I don't know a lot about computers, but the one I currently have was built for me by a friend of a friend and it always seemed to have issues staying cool while running a lot of games, so I'm definitely looking for something that won't have those issues!

Saved Ticket #: 3603830

Specifications:
Case: Lynx
Motherboard: MSI MPG X570 GAMING PRO CARBON
RAM: 32GB DDR4 3200MHz Digital Storm Performance Series
Power Supply: 1000W Digital Storm Performance Series
Storage: 1TB SSD and a 2TB HDD
GPU: Radeon RX 6800 XT 16GB

I'm also wondering if I really need that 1000W power supply, some have told me I do need it and others say I don't. If anyone could clarify that for me it is greatly appreciated :)

Thank you!

You don't need the 1000 watt, the 850 watt is plenty.
I kept the 3900XT processor and MB you choose but changed your storage to Storage Set 1: 1x SSD M.2 (500GB Seagate FireCuda 520) (NVM Express) (Gen4 PCIe) and second storage set to a 1x SSD (2TB Samsung 860 EVO).
All else is the same and the price is just a tic under $3k. Then at checkout you get a $3oo discount so you are at a tic under $2700.
You will be much happier with the performance of the faster drives in both boot up and gaming from the SSD rather than the HDD. Only put in a 500GB boot drive, pleny of room for the OS and some of your other fav. programs. Games and general storage on the second drive. Bumping that 500GB drive up to 1TB like you had would put you over your $3k budget, but with discount, would probably still be under. Check it to see.

Here's a better build: 3605649
Probably close to what some of the vets in here will recommend.

You may as well go gen 3 on the CPU for an extra 170. It's 100% worth the upgrade for a lot of reasons you can google. You don't need the 1000W power supply, 850 will do just fine. Upgraded your storage 1 to 500gb NVME. Will run 5x faster than standard SSD. Also changed your 2nd slot to SDD. HDD is becoming archaic by this point I think even for storing games, etc. You can always add more storage down the line.

$2855.

Let me know what you think! Also wait for some of the others to chime in as I'm no expert myself - but this in line with what I've learned over this last month.

grasoline's build is solid with one caveat. Two M.2 NVMe drives share the same bandwidth, so they can get in each other's way on occasion. IMO, you should get a SATA SSD for secondary, because you will only be using it for storage, not operating. Games and other things will load plenty fast enough from a SATA SSD. The ones here over 1TB are a little pricy, and adding more later is easy.

Get the Internal Lighting for free!

Everything else is very strong. You definitely want a 5000 series CPU. The 5900Xs are backordered. Compare the 5800X, and you'll see there is very little difference for gaming.
