Hello everyone long time lurker to the forums first time poster. Its time to put the old pc out to pasture which means new comp time woot.

Im looking to spend around $2500. I will use this comp for primarly gaming, mmos/rts mostly. Other uses are surfing the web and i have a small collection of music.

I will be adding another vid card in the future. This mochine will be way overkill for my current monitor but i plan on buying the dell 30inch ips very soon.

Thanks alot for the input on my build. 546626

Well for the 30 incher they say crossfire 6970 2g is the way to go for the extra vram. Now if you only want one card for now and add another when you get the new screen I would do this. 546693

2500 should buy you a really nice 2600k build. I'm sure dst4me will be able to maximize a rig that fits yours needs and budget.

Looks good to me. If i went with the 27 instead of the 30 could i go with the 570/580 i have never been much of an ati fan. On the other hand it would be nice to have all the realistate.

Forgive me for a possible dumb question. So my understanding of the ssd is that i would load my os/games/music/videos on it and all other stuff on my other hdd?

I was going to go with the blueray player since with that screen i might watch movies on it but i could go ahead and add that later since the gaming part will be number one thing for the comp.

OS/Games on ssd. Music, videos and porn on HDD. Depending on the resolution of the 27 incher a 580 would be great. EVGA has a 3 gig 580 out now which would rock a 30 incher I just remembered, but I forget if ds carries it.

Edit went to EVGA website the 3gig 580 is $589 kinda expensive.

For 2560 x 1600/1440, to max out games and have good aa settings you want vram, the 6970 is recommended cause at those res at high aa settings your cf 6970 will beat sli 580.

if high aa settings is not important to you then go with sli 570.

so either:

in both cases be sure to:

Ask DS specifically for this fan to be added to the top, so you endup with 4 x 200mm fans:

haf 200mm non led fan

in both cases you add a second gpu later cause for 2560 x 1600 you gonna want sli/cf.

a 580 with 3GB of ram will get beat by sli 570 cf 6970 at that res.

What are you kidding me? you are not sure?

lol you got a 2600k with 4.5GHz oc or even higher, sli ability, 8Gb of ram, intel 320 ssd, 1TB BC for storage, Corsair A70, 1000w corsair, a 30" IPS dell monitor, I mean there is nothing else really to add to see a good performance gain, if thats not hell of a beast, I don't know what is

adding the second card is easy and if you need help adding it, let us know.

But I like to point out that at that res, personally I would want tri sli ablity, which the p67 platform does not provide
