Time for my 5th DS build (3 desktop, 2 laptop) as my Velox 6700K with 1080 is holding me back (although is still purrs like a kitten).

Budget:
5K-6K

Usage:
primarily 4K flight simulation with MSFS and P3Dv6(?)

Put together this system...

Chassis Model: Digital Storm Lumos

Processor: Intel Core i5-13600KF (5.1 GHz Turbo) (20-Thread) (14-Core) 3.5 GHz (Raptor Lake)
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Hero (Wi-Fi) (Z790) (Up to 3x PCI-E) (No SLI) (DDR5)
System Memory: 32GB DDR5 5200MHz Kingston FURY Beast
Power Supply: 1000W Digital Storm Performance Series (Semi-Modular) (80 Plus Gold)

Storage Set 1: 1x SSD M.2 (1TB Samsung 980 PRO) (NVM Express)
Storage Set 2: 1x SSD M.2 (1TB Samsung 980 PRO) (NVM Express)

Graphics Card(s): 1x GeForce RTX 4090 24GB (VR Ready)

Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 3: Digital Storm Vortex Liquid CPU Cooler (Triple Fan) (Fully Sealed + No Maintenance)

Chassis Fans: Standard Factory Chassis Fans
Internal Lighting: Remote Controlled Advanced LED Lighting System (Multiple RGB Color Modes)

Boost Processor: Stage 2: Overclock CPU - Up to 5.1GHz on All CPU Cores
Boost Graphics Card(s): - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s)

Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 11 Professional (64-Bit)
Recovery Tools: USB Drive - Windows Installation (Format and Clean Install)

Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 10-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed
Warranty: Life-time Expert Care with 4 Year Limited Warranty (4 Year Labor & 2 Year Part Replacement)

Thoughts? Should I go for the i9-13900K?

The proc IMO will be just fine for the next 5+ years. Ditch the overclock! It will turbo up to 5.1GHz whenever the need arises, and the heat generated by running full bore all the time may well shorten life span.

You're gonna have some fun with this system.
