I have never overclocked any of my computer and was thinking of having my new ds system overclocked for me. How much life can i expect from my cpu and is it really worth it?

Depends what cpu you’re ordering, the cooling etc.

If you’re ordering the 8700k then overclocking isn’t needed for gaming.     It Turbos to 4.7 on single core which is very good for gaming.

If you do have DS overclock then the cpu will be fine with no loss of life expectancy.

If you aren't going to overclock, save your money on a K edition.  Many, many games utilize multi-core and multi-threaded cpu's.  Now most don't really use more than 3-4... and even those are a small percentage.

But if you're going to buy a K edition 7000 series or 8000 series, buy a good cooler and have fun hitting 5ghz with literally no effort at all.

DS does very modest overclocks from what I've learned over the years.  Life expectancy decreases are really non-existent.  And if you CPU does die early, it won't be from DS's overclock.  It'll be from crappy silicon lottery.  I'd probably just save my money, and either do the OC myself as it's so easy there's video's five year old overclocking 7000/8000 series cpu's to 5ghz.  Just make sure you have a decent noctua/aio/custom loop to cool it.
