Hello Everyone!
I noticed a lot of links to tomshardware.com, with real world benchmarks on hardware throughout the site. For you n00bs out there TH has been around for ages and is a great place to get raw information without the advertisement fluff. Plus, they do an excellent job of breaking down all the hype into laymen terms so all you guys can understand what's really going on. If your shopping around, you might want to check out one of their latest shootouts, http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/Blackbird-Falcon-Northwest-Vigor,2027.html Digital Storm! Where was your rig to battle it out? Yes, I'm calling you out. Personally, out of the three in the review, I was going for Falcon Northwest's rig, because I have been pricing similar rigs all over the place. I should post my build ticket here shortly, to see what you all think. I have personally built over 100 computers, and for me to decide to let someone build my computer for me, I really look into what the company will be making off of me in overhead, craftsmanship, overclocking, and if the warranty is worth the extra cost. Everyone differs on how much they value these things. I'm a tough DIY'r, but I understand the value of having someone else do the dirty work and saving myself some heartache. Just depends on how much I'm willing to pay for it. |

FNW? can you say:
let me pay-more when I don't have to? I have checkout out FNW and known about them for at-least 4 years now. would never shop there again, to expensive for no reason. customer service sucks. don't trust them to treat me and money right at all. I used to be on TH's forum for a long time, they don't really care about the users, which is why I left. TH is a good place for companies to advertise their stuff. I can't not in all honesty recommend FNW or TH as a place to buy or find out where to buy your PC. I don't work for DS, I'm just an ex FNW customer and a current DS customer. I should reiterate,
TH is cool because they explain the ins and outs of the technology involved in a method you can understand. They also go about testing equipment in a more "scientific method" approach then many other review sites. The forum and surrounding community does pretty much suck, expetially if you don't RTFM, or R-RTFM. Not a place for quick answers, It is a place for RESEARCH. And if you're shopping around, I suggest you do some research... FNW is expensive. I didn't say I was planning on buying one of the systems offered there, I was saying, "check out what they used in their system" to see what a boutique computer builder gets out of their top-of-the-line components. It shows the potential that you may have. harleyman, I have built so many computers I understand the value that goes into the details. The details that stretch performance. Think of all the little details... hardware tweaks, software tweaks, driver tweaks, os tweaks. Then think of all the possible problems associated with them... Then measure the value of support, and having a warrenty for the price you are paying... Sometimes, I think It is worth it. In all actuallity right now I'm leaning toward the DIY method. |

OK I don't agree with anything you are saying there about TH and I can assure you that there are much better and more precise places then TH to get your info from.
Personally, I wouldn't recommend my enemy to go to TH for info. I respect your opinion but I completely disagree. Edited by DST4ME - 12 Oct 2008 at 5:24pm |

I found it interesting that 2 out of 3 of the reviewed rigs used,
Asetek LCLC for liquid cooling. It's only a $100 system. FNW managed to get: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 3.00 GHz, FSB-1333, 12 MB Cache Overclocked to 4.00 GHz @, FSB-1776 and Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770 3.20 GHz, FSB-1600, 12 MB Cache Overclocked to 3.60 GHz @, Stock FSB |

Thanks Alex, I look forward to seeing the reviews... By chance to you have any details on the system that you "might" have pushed out if you had a little spare time on your hands? |

Thanks DST4ME,
I actually have a copy of that article, and is one that made me take a second look at what Digital Storm had to offer. |

NP boss, let me tell you I'm what you call a picky customer, and I have looked at many PC sellers, DS is the best out there as far as:
price quality customer svc customer satisfaction tech support I mean, when I was looking at DS at first, even their customers that had problems loved them. so when you find a customer that had problems, and still loves and recommends the place, you know you are at the right place I have yet to find a place that can match DS in all that. A great review over here for DS. Considering their PC was twice less expensive than the leading one.
If it does not dispaly the article, just type in google: "The Best Of The Best Vie For Alpha Rig."
