So not sure how long its been not working but it doesn't seem to want to start up, i mean it will move a little but thats about it. It doesn't seem to be hindering performance but do you think i should have it replaced or not worry about it?

Hi Arkansas.... The top 200mm fan on my 600T was off for a month or so while waiting for a new fan control. I could've easily hooked it up but didn't, kind of a testing type thing, and I didn't see any difference in temps. My cpu cooler, the A70 blew the heat out the back and the video card exited out the back.
My opinion is to change it, but mainly because its there. ![]() |

If i do decide to change it, i'll probably wind up changing all the fans to maybe Noctua or Cougar fans just in case the other three fans bite the dust which probably won't happen anytime soon but better safe than sorry

Sounds like a plan.
Fans are pretty reliable, but tweaking the build is always fun.

You mentioned " it will move a little but that's about it".
You might try using a 'pin point' oiler to add a drop of oil to the fan shaft where it goes through the housing. I use DeoxIT X10S precision instrument oil. http://store.caig.com/s.nl/sc.2/category.728/.f |

Arkansas, just thinking after Pacesetter's comment of it moving a little..... Your Storm Trooper case has a front fan control. Behind the right cover are there fan headers hanging down that the top and front fans hook to? If so, try swapping the fans and the connectors they use to see if the fan control itself is going bad. A bad fan header from the controller might cause it to attempt to start and then doesn't.

I dunno i'll have to check later, if i replace the fans i'll probably just hook them to the Mobo and let the mobo handle them.
Also i noticed my motherboard Sabertooth z77 has the option for 4 PWM fans so i might go that route One more thing i'm new to CFM but does the rear fan need to be higher or lower than the front fans? Edited by ArkansasWoman777 - 12 Feb 2015 at 2:17pm |

Nope. The rear fan doesn't have to meet any particular specs. If the front fans have more cfm, which they will, any extra airflow goes out the rear and top open grills, like below the video card.

So i found the fan cable to the top fan along with the rear cable while dusting out my pc today, both are bundled together but i'm having an issue unhooking the fan extension cable to the end of the fans cable.
Is there any easy way to do this? |

They usually connect in one of 3 ways.... Just stab on with no locking...or, a small plastic locking tab needs to be pushed in with your nail or a pen... or, the connector has two locking tabs on the end that you just squeeze together as you pull it apart.

I think its either of the last two that you mentioned. I might take it to a computer shop along with some new fans and have them replace it for me. |

I think the fans just push on. Just give it a tug.
![]() The LED lead might lock, but I'm not sure. I think you have 3 types of connectors from the fan control, the smaller led fan connector, maybe 2 of those, a little larger fan connector, maybe 4 or 5, and the larger molex four pin power connector. |

Nope, no Geo then. It was a '65 Plymouth 383 Satellite. Crappy mileage, but back then gas was cheap.
The ride with its heavy suspension almost caused me to have no kids. Fun times. ![]() Just an interesting nugget.... gas back then was about .30 a gallon. ![]() Edited by bprat22 - 13 Mar 2015 at 11:30am |

Since this is a post about fans; The fans were great back in the day!!
'71 road runner - red with white convertible top and white leather interior and a 426 HEMI '72 boss Torino with a 429 - painted to look like starsky and hutch car. On a Sunday drive I saw a Henry J sitting in a farmer's field. I asked what he's ask for it and he said haul it off. OMG I was elated! Turned it into a roadster with a chevy 327/396HP and hurst 4 speed with a mystery shifter. Smoked glass ordered from Ca. 27 coats of transparent blue paint and 6 clear coats. You looked into the paint, not at it. Those were the days!!

69 Supreme! I also have a 79 Supreme, but it needs an entirely new engine. Its the original, plus its the 260 which I was never a fan of compared to the 350. It could also use a paint job. Its also about 1000 miles away ![]() I always enjoyed the Supremes, it was a nice middle ground since I could never afford the other "better known" muscle cars. ![]() |

How funny. I was just listening to Radar Love while loading more games.
Never should have sold my "72" Torino. Hubby says the same about his "55" Bel Air. Who knew they would be off the charts?
Now for a little "Rocky Mountain High".

We could make a thread just on cars.
![]() All those cars, the Road runners, especially the burnt orange , the Torino and the Cutlass were all ..had to stop and look.. as they went by. Just to stay on topic as Pacesetter reminded us.... they all had fans in them.. Fans are a good thing. Sorry we highjacked it, Arkansas.. ![]() |
