If you have a PC like mine (Lumos):

Processor AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6-Core Processor 3.70 GHz Installed RAM  64.0 GIGS

and you are looking to buy an Anti-Virus/Malware app let me highly recommend  TotalAV Ultimate Antivirus. Amazing capabilities to protect you from virtually any kind of invasion of your PC. It is hugely flexible to meet your needs and preferences. Support is fantastic and in real time unlike so many other companies. The app has several modes for scanning your PC IE. Quick, Smart, and System.

There's one problem that you need to be aware of. The Company is now and has been working to fix for several months (TotalAV Ultimate Antivirus5.17.470.0). Should you have External HDS that you use for storing installers, PDFs, videos, graphics, etc and you run the SYSTEM SCAN you could have a problem. With the Quick or Smart scans there is no problem. With the SYSTEM SCAN the app looks at all of your drives and none can be excluded, short of removing them while the scan is occurring which defeats the purpose of the scan. When TotalAV gets to about 2.3 Million files it will either quit scanning, Lock-up, or reset the counter to zero files scanned and then go idle. Under 2.3 million files there are no problems at all.

The issue to quote a communication from TotalAV Support to me"

Word for word from my Windows developer is:-
"Looking through the SDK versions that’s been released since the version in our app, there are a few fixes which are a plausible cause for that heap corruption issue. So I’m hoping that the updated Avira SDK will solve the problem. I already have that done in 5.18, but needs a decent amount of testing. 5.17 should be going on beta next week so that needs to happen first"

That note is from 60 days ago. The problem is not yet fixed. Support still says the fix is imminent but no beta has been released as of today. This problem is present for the AMD Platform in both Windows 10 and Windows 11. I am unaware if this is an issue on the Intel Platform.

Finally, I highly recommend TotalAV Ultimate for protecting you and your PC! It is nothing short of remarkable. With its Active Scan always running even something from one of your external  drives brought over to your boot drive will be instantly scanned and will not be allowed to interact with your PC until found to be 100% clean.Love
