Hey All!

Well Im starting to come down with my decision of purchasing form DSO. I just had one more questions:

Im not computer hardware literate in any sense, I know enough about computer hardware to know that when something is broken it is too late.. Big%20smile

I live in Philadelphia, across the country from where DSO is located. I am wondering if this will be a problem when shipping the computer? I personally can't afford to keep sending my computer back and forth to California every month if my computer has probelms..so my main question is if there has been many sucessful/unsucessful cross country trips for DSO computers? Do they end up with a part broken or not working most of the time?

Thanks for your help guys!

Heh im more worried about the angry UPS man dropping it on my concrete front steps because it is 50 pounds +

( All I can think of is when they left my brand new Xbox 360 Elite, laying infront of my front door while I was in class for 8 hours one day.. let me tell ya' that was a nice suprise seeing that no one stole it =/ )

Well, this is a worry everyone has.  I've been lucky I've had five "mail order" computers over the past 8 years and I have not had any issues:

2000 Sager Notebook (laptop) - no issues
2000 Alienware - no issues
2003 Cyberpower - no issues
2005 DigitalStorm - no issues
2005 Ibuypower (laptop) - no issues
2008 DigitalStorm - Ermmfingers crossed (it shipped today).

However, both my Dad and Brother had issues with theirs.  My brother ordered a PC last December from Ibuypower, dead out of the box.  Ended up shipping back twice.  Finally the 3rd time he just took it local to fix.

My dad ordered a pc from Cyberpower about 1.5 years ago, had issues booting up out of the box, had to reseat the video cards, still would not boot up.  I put his restore cd in and reformatted everything and downloaded/updated the drivers.  I was skeptical that he got a blank hard drive???  But since then it has been rock-solid.

So to me it's hit and miss.  I think I've been very lucky with the systems I've ordered.  I was thinking of going local this time, but I priced out all the components and really to me it's more worth it to have the support of DSO.  I know only a little about building a pc.  I'd rather have the experts do it!

We began to protect the system further by placing foam strategically inside to insure the heavy video cards don't flex and crack the PCB from mis handling by UPS/FedEx.

Warm Regards,
Alex

I didn't get any foam Alex!!

Although, I can't really complain.  Both times I have received my computer (went back for upgrades) it has come in good condition with the box fully in tact, ie no major dents, wholes, rips etc.  2nd time around the top radiator and the back of the case had slid out of place, but it took all of 5 minutes to secure them again.

I loved it Harleyman, that's the kind of "wasn't expectin' it"  kinda' thing, then I looked at his forum name and avatar  (brilliant by the way R/S) - that made me laugh till I p-ss myself. It was so out of left field.

Yep, that's how mine just got back with foam, securely holding all dingle dangily thingys in place firmly, and no problems since I first fired it up, and I'm on the east coast.

Alkasier, I just ordered mine and live near Philadelphia.  I'll let you know how it arrives.  I have been assured they do a fine job on secure packageing.
